Great in depth review! Would you say it's worth the cost you paid for it?

One thing that was not mentioned here, we bought this because it is one of only two washers that you can reverse the swing of the door on. We needed a right swing and they all swing left. Dryers are easy to switch out, but washers not so much. That said, I love all of the other features, they were a bonus.

Thanks for the video; it was helped us to decide on this pair. We got them delivered a couple of days ago, and are really smitten with them. I've had great luck with just buying the cheapest top loads available (got many years from a Roper set, then an Amana set), but the most recent pair we purchased (Hotpoint) did a terrible job cleaning. I finally caved on front loaders and modern technology, and have to say that these do such a better job cleaning. We're only a household of two, so the 850's are overkill, but we got them for not much more than the two lower models ($850 each), which I felt was worth the extra features. Now to install a counter above them!

I appreciate your thoroughness of the "geeky" stuff. I'm a smart home person too. I'm sure the electronic washers & dryers are better than the earlier models. I know there have been problems in the past. I still have a mechanical washer/dryer. I've had them for almost 20 years with no issues. I low-key doing research on a new set. Thanks.

Great review. Very simple to understand the way you explained it. the one remote feature I would want is to remote start the vent system. If I was gone for a period of several weeks I think it would aid in keeping the interior fresh

I always love the refresh setting on the GE dryers. Sure makes my dress shirts and paints look like they are ironed and smell so fresh.

I bought the 4.8 cubic foot GE yesterday and it was suppose to be delivered Friday but then I had buyers remorse. I wanted the Blue Saphire which was bigger and had the reservoir for holding detergent. My wife liked that so I went and bought this one and it actually gets delivered tomorrow a day early. I have been using Whirlpool my entire life and my washer is having the same error code for several months, even though we tried to fix it. So after only 8 yrs, We decided to purchase this new set. My daughter has this GE and she absolutely loves it, so I hope I love them just as much. The dryer door might be an issue as my current one shuts very sturdy, and that dryer vent! No kidding pretty inconvenient. I guess I will need to get used to it as I already ordered them and they are on their way here next week. Got a pretty good deal online at Home Depot for the pair and the pedestals for $2100. Thank you for the very thorough review! I am still exited to get them!

They are great and I do love them. However..... If this washer used 3 gallons more water in each wash it would make it amazing!!! When I add 3 to 4 gallons of water my clothes get cleaned so very well. Wish we had the option to use more water.

Great video Ron. I have the LG washer and Dryer that gives you a lot of features that I have yet to use in 10 years. I love my washer and dryer, but love some of the newer features you mentioned on your washer and dryer. Love the feature that airs out the washer. I have to leave my door open and still sometimes get the smells. The large soap dispenser is a game changer.

Dude I LOVE your tabletop and how you decorated the laundry area. I was showing my wife and I said what’s weird is he has drink dispensers and she laughed at me. It didn’t occur to me it was liquid detergent.

Come back in a year or 2 and let us know how it went. All new washers are pretty good, but that 2 year mark is a make it or break it.. watching these reviews makes me want a nice fancy machine, but then I see it having issues and costing 500 and 3 weeks to fix. So I went with a speed queen after fixing my old washer and drying many times. It's not big, not fancy and not cheap, cost about the same or more then this washer, but I'm hoping I won't have to deal with anything for a long long time.. plus it's made in the USA and I'm that kinda guy. Lol.

yeah what i meant to say Ron was that i am just purchasing the washer right now and getting the matching dryer later after i get the washer half or mostly paid off. purchased it today at lowes for about $965 which includes taking away the old and installing the new which isn't bad. can't wait to get it delivered and installed later this upcoming week

The ultra fresh vent system does two things, prevent mould from growing and extend the life of the spider as whatever detergent that gets on it does not remain wet and accelerate spider corrosion. A great idea. Some people can't always leave the door open after every wash which is the traditional way to address the above two issues. Now, ideally for this to work it needs to be enabled at the end of EVERY wash cycle. How easy is it to set it to work like that?

I just got the 650 version and the dryer door sagging a little bothers me too. It was the same in the store for the 550 and the 850 versions. Looks like they made the lint trap open better on mine. it opens from the handle part the way you first tried to open yours and is very easy. Wish the washer didn't weigh so much, probably twice the dryer and hard to move. Love your in depth review and your laundry room makes me want to overhaul mine

My old washer used to power off in the middle of a cycle when I accidently bumped the button so, I agree that it is inconvenient to not be able to lock out the Power button, however, I think that's a safety issue. If something hits the fan you need to be able to power off in an emergency regardless of the control lock. This is a great review and now I am doubly excited to have my new GE coming next week.

Great review , washers and dryers have came along way I remember hanging clothes on the line and wringer washing machine but I must say Ron you might be a little picky about the door closing I want to make sure that I hear the door lock😂 but if it’s in my budget I think it’s time for me to get a new GE washer and dryer mine is not even 10 years old and doesn’t do half the stuff🤣

Great video. Have the 850’s as a set now too. Have the same frustration with the dryer door, but the washer is built like a bank vault. Only other nit pick is that the dial is hard to read or see what cycle you're on. Otherwise, I’m happy with the pair.

When filling up does the water turn on and off and on and off? I have an LG front loading washing machine and it turn the water on and off shaking, rattling, knocking my pipes like crazy. I even put water shocks on the water lines and it doesn't help. I'm hoping that this washing machine has a constant flow of water while filling up.

On the dryer sheets you have to tell it how many you use on a large load and regular load then it will keep track of it.

We are getting the GE washer and dryer. Luckily my wife gets a fantastic discount through her work. We get 25% off of normal price. We are getting the 850 series for $750 per washer and dryer.

Ron I loved this review. We just bought these and the only issue you did not cover, which I see has also happened to you, is that sometimes the fabric softener and/or bleach dispenser have water in them. Mine are new so I doubt they are clogged plus, it randomly happens and sometimes one that was full is empty later so I assume this has to do with the cycle settings. Any advice would be appreciated.

While the smart feature "washer link" is cool I don't really see a need for it. If the dryer senses how dry your clothes are isn't that the same? I just picked these both of these up today and wanted to watch a few videos first prior to delivery. BTW...Great review!

At the 4:43 mark, with dispenser drawer opened, why is there a collection of water in the fabric dispenser compartment? We've had this with our Maytag washer as well. But, I don't think it is something that is supposed to happen. Why does water fill up in there?

Great review Ron. Can you manually change the time on your machine? I was thinking you could fool the machine it's operating between 7am-10pm. That way, should you need a notification outside those times you'll get one. Just a thought.

Have you had any issues with mold buildup in the soap dispenser? I've read reviews with this issue and this would be a deal breaker for me
