For someone with OCD you really needed to finish tucking the top part of the new pad all the way in. I tried yelling into my phone to get your attention but you just kept showing me that half tucked in corner like you couldn’t see it!!!!! 😂😂 Just curious, would there be any benefit in leaving the old pad in there and putting the new pad over it?

I’ve put about 300 miles on my Mariposa over the past 4 1/2 years. Absolutely love it. My first pack was from another major pack manufacturer. Unfortunately, that pack weighed 4 lbs before putting anything in it. The Mariposa is just under 2 lbs empty for the medium. It carries like a dream and I love all the pockets. I ordered the upgraded sit pad and it’s really made a difference when backpacking in the swampy summer months. Can’t recommend the Mariposa enough.

I bought a silverback for my son and I love it!!🤣🤣🤣 I use it more than my HMG 3400 junction. The pad is really nice! Great video Crow!!

Hey Crow, great info here! I love that the pad can double up as a seat, rather ingenious. I genuinely have never heard of Gossamer Gear. I am not a HUGE gear junkie, but I am curious nonetheless. I’m gonna go check this brand out. I know Tim likes gear/specs a little more than me, perhaps he can fill me in too.

Using the pad as a cushion is a good idea. I don't know a thing about backpacks but that is a nice feature. Love seeing all the green as I hate winter. :)

Nice! I was looking for an ultralight backpack and saw the mariposa pack, really liked the higher side pocket and all the other pockets. It isn't as "ultralight" as i had hope for it to be. 😔

Hey Crow! I just bit the bullet on a pack. It actually came down to the Mariposa and a Hilltop. I went with the Hilltop because I'm looking to size down to a 40L. It was such a tough choice that I'm buying the mariposa too when I can afford one so I have a nice 60 too! Great pack....it helps knowing how long yours has lasted.

I've always wondered about your pack. I'd consider it but I just picked up a Granite Gear Crown 2 in an attempt to lighten my load. It is 1/2 the weight of my Teton Sports Explorer 4000. I haven't had a chance to get it out on trail yet though... what with snow and winter and all! :-P I also just picked up a first pack for Rugged Mountain Momma. It is a Decathlon Forclaz Trek and has a ton of cool features. Not only that but it was inexpensive too. See ya around Mr. Crow!!

What, exactly, is it about the upgraded pad that made such an improvement for you? I have a Mariposa with the standard pad, and I love it as is, but I'm always up for making something good even better. What is better about the upgrade?

I love my Mariposa and have long eyed the Air Pad but have never made the jump due to the weight penalty. You obviously spoke to the increased support comfort of the Air Pad, does it do a good job of actually letting air flow across the back while hiking?
