I decided to go ahead and use the control box afterall. I wanted to bench test the control box and this video describes how I did this. This is a second hand Gear Vendors overdrive I purchased recently.

You are the 1st person to discuss anything about the control box. I will still need more help but at least this is a start. Thank You!

Thank you for clearing up alot of mystery around the control electronics if you've never owned one before. As others have said the website does not show this side of the unit.

You only need to run 12V to the solenoid on a switch and turn it on over 30 mph and off when you go below. The speed sensor is there to control the 30mph on/off. The sensor goes from very low ohms to 2000 ohms when driving. A switch that turned on at 2000 ohms could do that but I don't know how to make it so I just turn mine on/off manually. I have the computer but it started turning on/off at 65 so I just over ride it. Gear Vendors tech line was of no help. The guy actually said they only care about race cars at a track. If you shouldn't use it below 30mph I don't see the great use for gear spliting on the road. My C6 auto is in 3rd and final by then. I turn mine on on the freeway on ramp and off when I get off.

Thankyou. Its funny how their website goes on and on and on about ratios, horsepower, saving mpg, but really lacks some technicalities like lengths of various kits, understanding the electronics, etc etc. I also read on one application how it has a fixed yoke of some sort. Does that mean you can fit other types of flanges? Great product but their website needs work.

Does the control box show any display if it's not at a certain RPM? I hooked mine up to a power source and ground but it looks dead. Should it be lit up?

Good question, the control box has red dots that light up. One dot lights up when the unit has 12 volts and another dot will light up when the OD kicks in. Other than that there might be some speed indication light but that all I noticed.

Do know the wiring for the 6 wire (white) cable that somehow reduces to the 2 wires at the solenoid?

Yes, I mention it in the video. I don't remember off hand but I do mention it.

@manuelalvarado8359 the colors u mention are in reference to the cable that comes from the signal generator, whereas im just trying to figure out which wires feed the OD shift solenoid. Thanks

so can you wire it up with just a switch on the solenoid? and bypass the controller all together?

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend you keep it like that. I had it wired with just a toggle switch 12 volts to the solenoid and worked fine but it was only temporary for one day to test the Gearvendors for operation. Once I determined that the GV worked, I hooked up the controller as intended along with the speed sensor. Keep in mind, running this GV with a toggle switch is a bad idea because if you accidently turn it on in reverse, you can really mess up an expensive GV.
