Gears of War has been at the forefront of high end graphics from the very beginning. Who gives a shit if they use a prerendered story trailer like 99% of the industry. You know the game is going to look incredible.

I just think it's funny how 5 ended on a big cliffhanger and they decided to do a prequel next instead.

It’s in game assets, I’m blown away by the fidelity of the assets just to start!!! It’s obviously a target they are aiming for and I bet they get it close. Gears 4 and 5 already looked amazing and that was on Xbox One 🤓.

CGI, Real-time, and GAMEPLAY graphics are 3 completely different things.

Crazy that after seeing Hellblade 2 in real-time look better than the CGI trailer when it launched that people are still questioning whether this and fable are legit... It's already been proven that that level of fidelity is absolutely possible on the XSX/XSS.

I work in UE5 and as far as fracture goes, it isn't impossible this is in game. I can get some damn good looking fractures as an amateur. Coalition are wizards and I don't think they'll be showing us something for no reason.

“Next-gen destruction” probably just refers to Emergence holes being more dynamic. Like maybe they can level buildings or whatever.

I'm just hoping it's not just a graphical leap. The Gears series has always been a graphical powerhouse but there hasn't been much of a jump in gameplay mechanics just more like refinements. I'm hoping for a Gears game that redfines the series

I think ppl overlook how much animators bring to the table. Blur have some of the best animators in the biz and the cinematic value that adds can't be understated - the in game animations will be very different I'm sure.

Any videogame trailer can be target rendered, full CG, image modified. Even the latest Metroid Prime 4 latest had what seemed fake gameplay. Anything that's more than like a month or two away should be viewed as not completely real, unless it's like an on stage demo, but those are rare.

I’m excited nonetheless. Interesting to know as some franchises got torn to pieces for doing this exact thing. Killzone is a good example.

I find Blur Studios fascinating. A few years ago they showed off a trailer for their new motion picture. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! There was a lot of controversy around that trailer because they depicted Sonic in a much more realistic nature with a human teethed smile and spindly arms and legs. Strange direction for a company that should clearly know what an audience would want. Don't believe me? Look at the titles they've worked on in the past from HALO to Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 hell they even made the CGI for the sonic the hedgehog game from 2006 (say what you want about the game but the cgi was nice). So, they know how to make Sonic look like Sonic, so why would they make him so ugly and weird for the trailer? Marketing of course! Negative publicity at its finest. They put out a trailer with their "outrage sonic" to stir up talk about how awful he looked. Every major movie and video game site and social media platform were all chirping about it. Soon after they come out to appease fans with the redo of him, delaying the movie (which I'm sure was going to happen anyway - this was just a nice cover) and promising they will deliver on their vision. Negative marketing ploys are more powerful than you think.

Hopefully the multiplayer will bring back UMG e sports

This is why when people ask if graphics are hitting a wall, my answer is no, its not even close. We cant even handle whats in this trailer very well on high end pcs, and this doesnt even look anywhere close to real life quality. Im not sure why people think stuff cant get much better.

Gears e day was supposedly targeting a 2025 release date, but cause of gta 6 a lot of games will be trying to avoid gta 6 release date in 2025. Not just Microsoft games but sonys as well and 3rd party multi platform games to.

That original Mad World trailer absolutely blew me away back in the day. The reason i got a 360 and am still on xbox to this day!

Trust me, that game ain't looking like that running 60fps on SX. If this game is only 30fps on SX though... oof. This is likely just a dolled up photo mode rendered into a video with extra effects. Edit: I am excited for this though!

The trailer like most were CGI, yet it's the supposedly the best showing they ever had. The showcase was mainly the games they announced several years ago. Perfect Dark was a tech piece that's a long way off. State of Decay 3 they didn't show gameplay just another CGI trailer. The showcase was deceiving apl flare with no substance. Fable was horrid not sure what they did but it's concerning. Doom of course looks great as always ID has sone of the best technology. E-Day wasn't ready to be shown to early. Guys that showing was deceiving sorry but it's hard to trust those people after their dirty business tactics.

lol so many armchair devs here. why hire Blur, one of the top animation companies to do this, if it's just something that can run on a series X or 4090. it's CGI in the most traditional sense and some of these frames probably took forever to render

We basically got a pre-rendered trailer for a game that is apparently no where near being released and quite likely not even being made for the current generation hardware. In other words, the Coalition is likely not going to release a game this generation to prove the current consoles really are capable of using all the so-called technology Microsoft sold us as a big bill of goods on. Technology apparently no one will end up actually using to the fullest extent possible. If any development team was going to prove it all true, I expected it to be this one. This really didn't even show us what the Coalition has been doing this time around.
