Man. that was one of toughest matches i have ever seen. Ronnie did amazing and one mistake. Mark is insanely good at safety shots.

They both played poorly here, but that's the tension I guess. Ronnie made two mistakes imo: not talking on that half-ball yellow Selby left from the snooker, and blasting the pink.

Mark Giles On the average Mark Selby is no luckier than any other top player. The bias among snooker fans is obvious. Very few, if any of these fans, acually know the players personally and are not entitled to make character judgements. Mark Selby did not reach the top level of snooker by sub-standard play or dumb luck. The expectations of fans of any sport world wide is often totally unrealistic. I would hate to be a top sports person as fans pick on every perceived flaw yet they certainly are not the perfect human beings they expect sports people to be. With the benefit of Internet anonymity they can be nit-picking arseholes.

@@droceretik On average, you are correct about him being no luckier than any of the other top players. The difference is, however, this frame Selby got extremely lucky on multiple different occasions on missed pots that ended up being a snooker. Calling someone lucky on one of their frames is not a character attack and you interpreting it that way exposes your bias.

Sometimes you get so worried about how you are going to get to your next shot you miss the shot you are actually shooting. I have to tell myself all the time, it does matter how well you set up on your next shot if you don’t pocket the shot your on.” That’s what I thank happened to Ronnie. He must have thought he need the black and wanted to get setup on it so bad that he missed the pink.

This was not meant to be for Ronny. Selby blundered something like five shots in a row and every time he left a perfect snooker after the clutch. He had an angel on his shoulder. Still Ronny kept playing totally composed till the end only to fuck up an easy shot, again Selby got help from above. It was his day, but nobody comes close to Ronny as a player.

Yeah, Snooker can be frustrating to lay viewers who can't appreciate the mental aspect of the game and the amount of strategic thought that needs to go into almost every shot.

Go watch power ranger, snooker game is not for guys like you who can't understand strategy. Selby didn't win any world champion before 2014, and score was so close, not to mention it was against the best player in the world if not in history, of course he had to think strategically and play tactically. If you think it is slow, go watch Peter Ebdon, who took 5 minutes to make a 12 points break.

Selby is good i definiely agree with your thoughts. Ronnie made a mistake for Mark to win, but those lucky snookers have made the match different because he was at anytime expecting such snookers and that change the match for Ronnie. He was so damn so fortunate. Ronnie is better than him despite he lost.

Kind of new to snooker....I thought first to ten was a lot of games, but first to 18 omg I can't imagine playing for that long or following all those matches. -I know they divide it up in sessions and it's not all at once, but still I think first to ten is a good enough number of matches.
