When I got my Geeknson table in 2017 it came destroyed. My guess it was because Canada customs opened the crate to inspect it, however did not put it back the way they found it. The shipping company then treated it poorly on the way from customs to my house. Geeknson however was GREAT with my issue. They replaced my table at no charge and even told me to keep all the pieces that weren’t damaged (extra/backup accessories). I would buy from them again for sure. I just hope they were able to get an insurance claim on my damaged one.

If ANYONE in this industry gets a pass and doesn’t need to tell us they got something from a manufacturer and/or are/aren’t being paid, it’s you, Rodney. You’re nothing but professional on this channel and I don’t think anyone would suspect you of having biases in your videos. Plus, you’re Canadian!!! That said, really appreciate the transparency you have, especially in light of the Table Talk and Table Talk Back episodes from a year or two ago where this topic was discussed. Top notch as always. That said, this table looks fantastic. I’m waiting for my Wyrmwood Modular Gaming table and see some things with this one that I wish they’d included in their design. Still, very excited for that delivery next May!

I got my 'Megan' table last year and I am really happy with it. It is the least customizable of the GeekNSon gaming tables but it just fits my needs and my taste (and also my purse). I live in Germany and a GeekNSon team came from a facility in Poland to deliver and set up the table in my apartment. Their next stop was then in Belgium :-O With everything you mentioned about the noise and leg-space issues of the hydraulic system it really didn't feel like a biased review.

@wollewotz

@@wingmansion The table height is 77 cm (approx. 30.3 in), the leg space from the floor is 63 cm (approx. 24.8 in). My body height is 1.90 m (6' 2.8") and with an ordinary chair there is more than enough leg space for me. No chicken wing posture and no chicken wings while playing, please ;)

Very good and informative. The parts about the leg room, table space and how it feels to sit at a table I think need to be commonplace when talking about one. I have gone through about 3 different tables through trial and error (none THAT fancy) and I wish I would have known that there are many different variables. Thanks Rodney!

It is an option you can specify as well. You can have the remote control lights that Rodney preferred or choose the Hue if that works best for you. I have a whole hue set up at home so went with the Hue and it works great. The hub should stay plugged in a bit like a router.

Thank you, Rodney, for a thorough and frank review of the table. I originally wanted a fancy table, bit after seeing the prices, and learning some of the things you mention in this video (shipping costs, items from another country, likely no fancy delivery service where I live, and weight) I decided that building my own is likely my better option. Some aspects of these tables is very nice, but some are just too superfluous for my tastes. Good points all around on your review, so I hope it helps others decide.

I have one of these tables. I got the 8 person table with all the features you have. The lights you have are Phillips hue I have the standard ones which are the same as your other one. The hydraulics don’t hit my legs as I adjusted my chairs rather than the table and got the height just right. The sound system is amazing. I’m in the UK and it was delivered and assembled. Top tip for new buyers who have a 3D printer. Print some leg extenders for your chairs .... dead easy just glue them on or cup over your legs. All in all I love my Henry table 😉

I have been thinking about a game table, and one of the issues has been the inset of most of the tables, the raising of the playing surface is great. I built my own table, but I like looking at these videos because they always give me ideas for improvements. My complaint with my current table is it is hard to reach across the table when I solo game, so I use my longest spatula to move hard to reach pieces. The led light bridge looks like a Philips Hue Bridge v2. If so, it will serve for all your Hue lights, and the default setting for on or off after power interrupt is configurable. Should also work with Siri, Alexa, and Google. (Though personally I prefer the LIFX leds for my gaming table since the leds and mix and match color on the same strip at the same time instead of only having a single color at a time option as the Hue currently does. Also no bridge required, they are WiFi)

The lights are Philips hue smart lights and the white Box is the Bridge. I use them anyway for all the lights in my Apartment, so for me it’s a big plus that the table comes with hue lights but I think that if you‘re Not already into the hue system it’s overkill and I agree with you about the simple version. By the way, in the app you can change the setting for the lights how they should behave in case of a power outage. Just set them to stay Off : ) I don’t like having Electronics in my table, they are going to be obsolete a lot sooner than the table will be. And that hydraulics are just Overkill, not my Cup of tea. Great video: )

Thanks for the video, I was skeptical at first but I really enjoyed it. I'm in the same opinion as yourself, I prefer the higher platform and as I'm almost as tall as you leg room is important. I have 2 kids and I could never get a proper table, so I have to use a mat with a think curtain on top which makes for an excellent gaming surface. I like the lighting and the speaker functions but this is not something I would really need as I have spot lights on the ceiling above the table. The speaker function is pretty nice but I just use a sound bar which is just as effective. If money was no object I would still probably not invest on one of these, I think I prefer the streamlinedness of the Megan or your original table. Also it's nice to know you had issues with importing, I live in Sweden and ordering anything from overseas, especially America comes with added fees and charges.

Might be something you are already aware of, but gaffer's tape is the best solution for taping cords, cables, and wires. It doesn't reflect light and won't leave a sticky residue when you remove it. It feels more towards a fabric tape than plastic.

Great in-depth, practical review. I definitely think a handcrank option would've been the better choice compared to the noisy hydraulics, especially because I feel most people will find a height they like and stick with it. Not sure why they opted for such a convoluted control mechanic for operating the lights, either...though those two hiccups aside, it's a great looking and rather versatile gaming table.

When playing with the 'half a table' example you showed around the 3 minute mark, how easily do the remaining leaves slide around? With that open space is it possible, using your example, for someone eating on the hard wood to accidentally slide them apart and lose a drink in the new opening over the felt below?

I have a minimalistic drop leaf table, both sides, of center support on rollers. Swing arms fold out to support the drop leafs, and the center support holds four folding chairs. I like the Henry, but would get it without the hydraulics, and I agree, the depth (bulk) of the table is too much.

Omg, I wanted to back their latest project on Kickstarter. I honestly do not have the money for this kind of thing, though. 😅 But it's really interesting to see this "in action". The Henry would have been my table of choice. I agree that needing a bridge for lights and stuff isn't as comfortable (to me) as a remote control. But then, so many devices are created to connect with bridges only these days. 😕 It would have been interesting to know if you can connect the table to a bridge that you already have. A follow-up question would then be if the table will react to voice commands. But I guess they would have mentioned that. Well, it's possible that they're developing their app and software to upgrade to this later.
@rjpdx
@rjpdx 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the bridge is just a Philips Hue device, so you could definitely use voice commands if you have Alexa or Google Home. Would be cool to set up a trigger so when I say, "I hate to lose!" it would turn the lights red.

Would love a proper Gaming table but the cost and their generally large size make them impractical for me. I spent some time in the summer converting our kitchen table into a gaming table that I'm quite proud of. Would love to add cup holders, etc like this table but yet to work out how in a sensible way.

Easy fix for the hydraulic table riser… Upholster additional felt on the underside of the removable top boards. All you have to do is flip them. Yes there will be seems in the felt between the boards, but I’d rather that than the leg room and noise issues that Rod points out in the video. And if you want a “half way” option, groove out an additional ledge half way down the side.

You mentioned in the review of the "Denis" table that the vault is about 3 inches deep? How deep is the vault on this one? If it is about 4 inches or greater I think the "Henry" is more meant for RPG gamers. The built-in GM area, the more sophisticated lights, the hydraulics, and the phone charging all make this ideal for RPGs.

I am gathering information and ideas to build my own gaming table. I am a woodworker, so I can overcome challenges. So I am curious, what features or accessories do you feel are critical to a gaming table, and what do you feel are overrated? Also, do you have minimum dimensions for the play surface that you would recommend staying larger than? As always, thanks in advance!
@WatchItPlayed

I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask, as my desires are pretty simple, Mostly I want a comfortable surface to play on. I think having a sunken area, so you can cover up a game while you use the top surface is now - and accessories for holding glasses and cards (and maybe components).

Just to ask, what the red mat that's on your Denny table supplied with it when you got in in 2017? In your video for the Denny table, you had a blue mat on it, but in this video, it has a red mat? If so, do they also offer mat options that you can get for the tables, too? I thought I ask this, since after watching the Denny table review, the mat was a different color? Also, do you still have that blue mat from the Denny table review, and if not, what happened to it since that Denny table review? Did it get worned-out, hence why the red mat is there now on the Denny table? Finally, even thought about being a salesman for GeekNSon? They would definitely make more money if you were in their videos showing the features of their tables, since you do a great job explaining the features of their tables and your thoughts on them. (Hence, it could be a good idea for the future: A table salesman.) Plus, it's nice to see where you keep your spare games that don't fit on your main self, since we don't see the room that the Henry table is on that often, as per the problems you stated for the room (noise problems, etc.)
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, I hope I can explain this clearly - it would be easier to show than to type :) I'll do my best! The red isn't a mat, it's a fabric wrapped around a board that then sits at the higher level (the way the leaves would). That's a custom thing I use for the sake of recording video. The blue fabric board is still there as well though, that's just the layer that covers the bottom vault section underneath. We haven't done a game play video in a while, but when we used to, we'd do it down in the vault area, and you'd see the blue fabric in that case. That way we could be recording a game play, and then leave it set up, while I covered it with the red covered board to record a tutorial on top. Hope that makes sense!
@danielschaublin

@@WatchItPlayed To understand what you're saying, the way it's laid out is, from top to bottom: red mat/part, small opening, then blue mat/part. Is that correct? If not, that what would be the correct way to explain it? Plus, you are right that pictures would popular explain this better than text, so if you want to post a reply saying "here's a picture of what I'm trying to explain on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.," that might help better. Sorry if I'm getting confused about if I am misunderstand you, but I think what I said might be correct, considering I had to picture what you said in my mind for a second to know what you might be explaining to me.
