670 still a great card!

The HD7950 seems to last for ages... past 2 generations of nvidia cards (gtx670 & gtx760).. still holding well.

How do you make videos with the chart like that? I mean, I can probably record the values and throw in an excel or something, but I got no clue how to make a moving chart like that. How do you do it?

I overclock my 7950 to 1150MHz and have the Memory clock maxed at1575. It runs under 66C and easily beats the 670 out on most games and benchmarks. I came from the 460gtx and was very wary of AMD, but it's really an amazing card for the money. I got the Club3d (Netherlands) version for $224 on sale when the cheapest 670 was still well over $300. Meanwhile Nvidia fanboys won't accept it. They seem to think the 7950 can't even touch it...

Damn I miss my 7950. I sold my PC to a friend with a i5 2500k and a 7950 for 950 last summer. The 7950 was a damn good card and would beast through games. Also that thing over clocked like a boss. Stock clock was 925MHz and I got it stable at 1240MHz thanks to sapphires beast cooling :)

Overclocked the 7950 is more comparable to the gtx 770.The base clock on the 7950 was too low as it can handle HUGE overclocks.Easily out pacing the 760 this test is somewhat misleading in that respect. The 7950 no longer exists its now the r9 280 (non x) and for 209$ (atm) its the best bang for the buck around.With 3 gigs of 384 bit ram(vs 2g of 256 bit) its like I said more comparable to the gtx 770. Oc'ed it can easily outpace a 760 for less money in fact I am matching my cousins gtx 680 benchmarks on most games.I kid you not Its an overclocking beast especially the non reference cards my sapphire 280 runs cool with a hefty OC.Money is a thing for me and I love! nvidia my old gtx 460 served me well.Still this time around I went AMD for 209 bucks your getting a gtx 770 for much less than even the 760....

Yes it does. We OC'd my friends sapphire 7950 and it made a big difference. Nvidias start to tapper off when reaching around 200mhz away from max core clock (my own experience with my 670) but below that i did see improvement.

The best one is the Radeon HD 7950. Why? Because i own one of these xD

7950 is a overclocking beast though, at stock the 760 and 7950 are similar, when you overclock both the 7950 destroys the 760 entirely.

should i get a gtx 760 or save the extra money and get a 770? My current pc specs are i3 2120, radeon hd 5450 (the pc used to be used for just a htpc), 14gb ddr3 1333, asus p8z77-v lk. I will be using physx and i will upgrade my cpu to an i5 3470 around the same time. I want to know which card would be the best choice. I will not do any overclocking but want a card that won't take much power but needs to be current gen.

I'm thinking of getting a radeon 7950. I don't play many high end games and I don't want to play at max in every game. I just want smooth gameplay for my como and no more frame drops. Would the a,d radeon be a better choice or the 760 both are the same price here.

Yeah, me as Nvidia user i'm totally excited and ofcourse interested in this new Mantle API. I really hope Nvidia will jump onto that new API "train" aswell on the GTX800 series. This makes the future gaming really interesting.

what are the clock speeds? I think once the 7950 is overclocked it will do allot better then 670 and 760. Right now I have 2 choices: xfx 7950 for 200 euros or msi gtx 760 (with ac4) for 220 euros, what should I get !?!?!

Now this has been a problem since May. We're into August and the problems are major ones for many people and have thus far only been partially fixed as of 326.49 beta. My crashes aren't too bad since the beta and are usually when encoding or viewing video (like streaming or even watching youtube) and on occasion a game fails. I love nVidia but am simply not going to buy a card that has a good chance to be subject to a months-long issue when I'm building a PC for someone else (I'll be on call)

On my backup build I just overclocked my amd 6000+ to 3.4GHz with 6GB PC6400 of Ram, and through my EVGA 670 GTX in it I am amazed that it doesn't bottleneck at all in 720p and very rarely at 1080p. I can't wait to get my 295x2 and benchmark it against my buddies 980ti

Since when did you start to talk about overclocking? However even though you can OC AMD through catalyst which comes w/ the drivers, there are many programs like EVGA Precision X which OC Nvidia cards just fine...

Looks like i'll be hanging on to my Radeon 7950 Boost then. I was tempted by the £199 OcUK offer for a 4GB GTX 670, but it's not really an upgrade from what i have now, plus my 7950 can run at 1100MHz without breaking a sweat :).

I have both the 760 twin frozr & 7950 powercolor. I can safely say that the 760 has consistently ~5-10% lower fps (sometimes higher than the 7950, with that being said, even though the 760 is a better deal considering performance=price, the 7950 in my opinion is the better value. The 7950 with the four included games (FarCry3:Dragon Blood, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, and Bioshock Infinite) a ~$150 value for ~$60 more is a great deal, especially if you were considering about buying any of the games.

IMO for ultimate value grab 2x7870XT's and overclock them. The Powercolor Myst is still $249 on Amazon. I run a single one at 1,200MHz/1,660MHz on custom watercooling and can max out every game I own at 2560x1440 with SSAA/AF. For $500 2 of them in Xfire would stomp absolutely anything in its price range once overclocked, especially a 7990. It's the way to go unless you're pushing 3,000x2,200+ resolutions, then you'll run out of VRAM on SOME titles.

I have an Sapphire Dual-X R9 280(it's basically a rebranded 7950) and i'm getting a solid 60 fps in the benchmark,and when playing as well. I have everything turned up to the max(and i mean everything) and i'm playing at 1080p. I don't know how you manage to get fps that low with these cards in these benchmarks. I guess recording this stuff takes it's toll on the fps.

love my msi gtx 670 power edition. its the exact same as a reference 680 (with factory overclock). So my card is beating a reference 770 if I overclock it a bit more! XD best $100 ive spent on a used card

I would go with an Asus 7950 or XFX 7950 i´ve heard many problems with the sapphire edition being underclocked at factory.

Depends on what model of the 7950 you're talking about, there is also a 4gb of GDDR5 670, so the "higher resolutions" is a mute point. NVidia has their own form of AA, so once again, mute point. As for the 760, I'm not sure if they're coming out with a 4gb model, until then, we'll have to wait and see.

just bought a used gtx 670 with a pre installed EK water block which looks sick! got it for $200 should be able to get some nice overclocks out of it. Normally these aren't cheap in Australia

i noticed the 7950 was on par with the 760 at the default clock of the reference GPU's @ 850 MHz. However, nearly all the recent cards from AMD's partners, such as sapphire, XFX, HIS etc clock it at 925 MHz or higher. The card performs SIGNIFICANTLY better due to the higher clock, and not to mention the much improvised heatsink. 925 MHz might as well be the default clock of the 7950 and OCing this card any further will make it perform ahead of the GTX 670 and GTX 760 quite easily.

I love my gtx 760 4gb model. This thing rawks! No bottlenecks from the FX 8320 I have in the machine overclocked to 4.2. I think I usually run the 760 with 1100 core clock and 6008 memory clock. The setup is super nice.

Honestly I want a gpu that can handle BF4 on high to ultra setting at 45 fps at least. Not knowing what the minimum recommended requirements are for BF4 makes it very difficult to chose the right gpu.

Short and sweet here. The cards are advertised with the total RAM they have. However the way the boards work, on each half is the GPU core, and it's own set of Memory chips. Unfortunately, this Memory can not be shared between them both, and instead it must be mirrored. This means the 6GB of memory is halved, because there will be a copy of the memory on each side. Effectively you only have 3GB of VRAM that can be used.

The only con I can tell you about going AMD through my experience is that they can be very loud and hot. I am still using a 5870 and it gets pretty loud at times. I would wait for the R9 280x and see if they improved heat management

Would Ultra settings in a game say with a GTX 760 or 670 look the same as ultra settings running on like a 780ti or titan with same settings?? I got my 760 for almost $60. For performance rivaling a 1050, it is a beast. Wish i had a 1050 or a newer card though because my temps and power draw is dissapointing. Tech has come such a long way.

I put together my first computer in 2013 and have been using the HIS HD 7950 ever since - plays gta 5 at full settings with good fps and hitman decently at full settings - Discovered Xplane 11 a week ago and AMD is not optimized for their game - I found out a computer sitting in our house has a MSI 760 in it so I am going to reluctantly swap it until I order an 8 gig nvidia to suit my needs for the future. I really hate parting with my 7950 and it runs great overclocked for games that are optimized for non open gl - Thinking of taking my old ASROCK Z77 pro4-m and getting another 7950 to run xfired - but for me after many years using radeon cards, i have to switch to nvidia - more developers write games to be optimized for nvidia and i feel AMD has always fallen behind in terms of fps. The 7950 was the best card I could buy when I built my system and it was a smart buy as it was over enginered - the recent driver updates have kept this card in the game 7 years later - Cards like the 7950 have longevity where nvidia are good with no probs from day one , but quickly outdated. But its time to make the change from Radeon to Nvidia - Mostly because Nvidia card half the Radeon's power will play X plane 11 twice as well - I believe this is the case with many titles now -

Absolutely. I'm not quite sure what you mean, but if you're just wondering about compatibility then of course they'll work together. As far as I know there aren't any CPU's that straight up aren't compatible with GPU's. As far as bottle necking, that is whether or not your CPU will hold back your GPU in gaming, I don't think the 2500k will bottle neck the 7950 at all, and the two would be quite a good pair.
