When I first saw Groomutt, I instantly thought of the Shih Tzu which also originates from Tibet. It may be because I own a Shih Tzu and my dog looks _exactly_ like Groomutt with the long hair and poofy tail. I personally think the creators were inspired by that breed and not the Tibetan Mastiff. But I’m pretty sure you’re right that No.16 is a Pekingese, because honestly, the resemblance is right there.

Was hoping someone else caught all of these in the comments. You can tell that the person who made this really understood Chinese folklore, culture, history, and its native wildlife. So many other good ones too: Smeargle's evolution being calligraphy, the fire-type Chinese lantern, the owl based on Chinese opera/mask-changing, a literal dragon boat, the firecracker dragon, Seismitoad looking like a traditonal toad statue, Wukong the monkey king... Man, I could go on. This is a phenomenal fanmade region.

I thought the rabbit and the moon was Japanese (and was the motif for Sailor Moon). Unless China had it first and it was adapted by Japan and possibly Korea.

The reason why it is here is because that specific bunny passed a trial of an immortal elder and ascended to become a moon bunny (the trial was held to find out which animal is the most kind hearted-the elder disguised himself into a starving old man in front of a monkey, fox and the rabbit. The rabbit killed itself to feed the elder and the elder is touched by its act and decide to send it to the moon and become an immortal bunny that lives on the moon. This is just one of the few versions of the story of how the rabbit got to the moon btw.) Also Hou Yi and Chang'a were a pair of couple (tho somebody says it is not the same Hou Yi who shoots down the suns, instead it is the other guy with a same name, but again mythological stories have many versions and this one Im sharing is the most popular one out there), Hou Yi was known to shoot down 9 suns and was praised by the others. He wishes to practice Buddhism and got some immortal pills from the holy mother. Since taking the pills will make one ascend immediately and Hou Yi is not ready to leave his wife yet, he decide to use the pills later and give the pills to Chang'a, which she hid the pills somewhere safe at home. A guy who wish to grant immortality saw that and threat Chang'a to hand over the pills when Hou Yi is out for a hunt. Chang'a, knowing she can't stand a chance against him and must keep the pills to the right hands, swallowed the pills, ascends and lands on the moon. Knowing what Chang'a has done people praised her as the goddess of the moon Knowing all these, I must applaud how well the creator of the fakemom blend the mythological references into the evos. The moon, the bunny and the couple... they're really a genius

lol even though blue is my favorite color, in my opinion fire is the coolest out of the three types and ive always picked the fire starters (except in black and white, samurott rules)

I don't remember what I tend to like for fan regions, but I've typically went through phases for the canon gens. Early gens I tend to prefer the grass starters, while the later ones I rotate between the fire and water. If I like two a lot, it depends on what the final evolve looks like or if there's a pokemon I really want I can find later on that covers the type.

Maybe it’s be a good idea to balance this problem by using repeat Pokémon? (By ‘repeat’ Pokémon, I mean Pokémon that originated from a different region.) Bring in some repeat Pokémon with Mystic resistance-types.
