This young lady is correct. I’ve been in long term care over 30 years. I fell at work and ending up having 2 surgeries. I was on WC then that ended the job gave me a very small loan for 6 months to try to make ends meet but ends will never meet with the change they’re giving me now. I’m financially suffering on the verge of loosing my vehicle and other things. I’m waiting to hear back from SSDI. Some say it may take years to get approved so I’m walking by faith. My family has been helping when they can and I appreciate what they can do. I’ve been on this journey for 3 years just suffering mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I loved 🥰 my patients and worked closely with family and friends of my patients. I worked hard physically and mentally in long term care. Now that it’s my turn for care and support I’m not doing well. I asked that the good karma I put out double back on me. Yes, I had savings but with time over the 3years it’s gone. My savings did help me while it lasted. Y’all please keep me in your prayers.

I make $43.00/hr at the nursing home and it is not enough. It’s too much work

We need more education on financial literacy and retirement too. I'm a 25 yr old RN and too many of my coworkers don't know what a 403B is, let alone know if they're investing in our 403B every month. The thought of needing to rely on social security when I am old is terrifying bc it's already not enough for those that have retired right now. And I feel like by the time I am retirement age social security will be dried up :/ The thought of what will happen to millennials and gen z when they are too old to work and nursing homes are overcrowded is terrifying.

Nursing home LPN here, been on my job for 15 years, soon to be 60 years old and you’re so right, I have no money. My unit has 60 residents with 2 nurses,1 med tech and 5 cna’s .thats only on day shift, 2nd shift is the same without a med tech and 3rd shift only has 1 nurse for that whole unit with 3-4 cna’s, so that’s partially why grandma has to wait when she rings her light. It’s crazy when people think you make a ton of money when you can work in a factory and make about the same with less responsibility and no abuse from family members but that’s not where my passion lead me.

This was SO eye opening. I didnt know gen x were already knocking on the doors of nursing homes. Also really inspiring to hear about how people need to contribute something toward the retirement years

I’m a nurse and I’m telling people GET YOUR HEALTH TOGETHER NOWWW because healthcare is sickcare and at this rate health is wealth!!!! I’ve been a nurse 20 years and tried SNF for 4 months, that was all I could handle. You appear to be caring and an exceptional nurse. I know I’ve lost my mojo and passion for it…I think it’s the politics and the attitude of these patients, they are off the hook 😂

Girl I didn’t last more than two years. The stress is overwhelming. You are on your way home can never finish the work and your brain is constantly working outside of of work hours. Also trying to think did I forget to see a patient. DON constantly calling on you to do overtime. My brain couldn’t rest

Can’t please these coworkers. Either you up and doing too much or your on your ass and not helping enough. I rather be up and doing stuff to not involve myself in their gossip. There is nothing wrong with getting up and helping or just making rounds and waking around. I’m only a cna and I refuse to ever be that “lazy” nurse.

I worked in a nursing home for one year and worked at a hospital for 22 years. Nursing home for me was by far the most physically challenging because the large amount of residents I had to see about. As far as working in the hospital I’ve run into more critical situations but you have other nurses to help you whereas everything rest on your shoulders in the nursing home.

You are absolutely right about Nursing homes and Social security. We have to save more spend less for when we get older. It not just social security that is making us work more but inflation. The prices of food, shelter, utilities and etc....We got to have multiple incomes and saving it and take care of ourselves much better and be gentle with ourselves. I am Gen X and we have begin to take care of ourselves better but there is always going to be some that don't because they are working and not going to the doctor.

Na sis. The hospital has become like that too. No help to be found anywhere. We are even doing dietary and environmental services too, running codes basically alone, no respiratory in sight. But that nursing home definitely sounds like a nightmare. At least we have fewer patients

How can these places be charging 8K a month when they are so short staffed? It boggles the mind how you are expected to care for and keep track of so many patients with very little in the way of help.

I currently work as an LPN in a hospital and I get up a lot too lol. I need to make sure my patients breathing cause some of these CNAs not even physically rounding in their patients, so I’m double rounding. lol they need to mind their business and let you get up lol. They clearly aren’t moving enough lol

🏥NURSE: B Your points are valid. However, LTC Needs Nurses to Fight for Better Staffing, also support staff starts with H.R. - Hiring Quality Staff, Today's Healthcare... not what was 20 30 years ago, NURSES CARED THEN. Some LTC facilities are getting better, I Prefer LTC over Hospital.

the only thing that scares me to work in ltc is that there's no in house doctor to call for help if sth bad happened to the residents also no charge nurse but i will give it a try to gain experience.

When you choose nursing it’s a lot of work that’s why nurses quit and choose another profession but if you have a passion for it deal with it.

I don’t understand y they don’t staff nursing homes like a hospital 24/7. Ik hospitals have problems with short staff ik that first hand. I wish the government would do better. That being said we have to do better on our health. So that we do our best not to end up in these under staffed and over worked places.
