@@EdenthelRei Cheating is being romantically involved with someone outside of your relationship. I can agree that it doesn’t have to just be sex, you can have intimacy without it being physical. But I think just saying doing things outside of the relationship is too vague. You can be lying without cheating in a relationship such as spending the collective money, going to a place you both agreed not to go to like a bar, being friends with someone you both agreed wasn’t beneficial to your relationship etc.! But you can’t cheat without lying. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I do not believe open relationships are anything but lust disguised as being kind to your partner....How can anyone be okay with this??? @madlKmT I've met many "asexual" people who have admitted they tried coitus and it was painful or uncomfortable or they have no drive. They then chock it up as being asexual but the real issue is none of those things are normal...besides it being uncomfortable the first time or two and then it gets amazing. Most of them need to see a gynecologist and do pelvic floor exercises or vitamins/diet change. A gynecologist would find out what is blocking their drive like poor diet. A lot of it is lack of proper education and they just accept it because the internet said it. Not to mention, being asexual is biologically impossible as a human, as only plants can be asexual as it means you can reproduce with yourself not that you don't do coitus as biology states. So it boils down to improper science education or misinformation also.

Marriages are meant to bond and build an everlasting trust over time. Not immediately. My grandparents stayed together for over 50 years despite their occasional fights. And prior to marriage they were both previously cheated on, which I believe is a factor in the bond. My parents stayed together despite my mom’s substance abuse in the late 80s. My dad gets a lifetime award for sticking with her through the painful journey and eventually getting her out of it. It’s disgusting a saddening how today’s generation treats marriages/relationships as a joke, and the advent of social media has made it worse. Means nothing now 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think young people today are afraid of being 'martyrs' for the sake of a truly bad relationship. They probably saw it happen to older couples in their family where the woman /man tolerated cheating, abuse etc for decades and are afraid they're going to make the same mistake. But that's not an excuse to just nuke every relationship with polyamory without giving it a real chance to grow. I feel for this generation despite its faults. We've become slaves to the idea that we have all the options in the world. We've lost sight of who we are and what we want.

@@tessabarre9330I think the other problem you guys were subjected to is Gen X tried to raise you guys as some perfect opposite to what they hated about Millennials, the perceived airy optimism that Boomers raised Millenials with. It made a lot of you guys seek risk reduction, first, and I think that shows with the poly and Open Relationships thing popping off beside the loneliness epidemic is a reflection of this need to mitigate all risk. Can't get cheated on if you don't believe in cheating. Can't get a bad divorce if you just pick the perfect person. Problem with both is that monogamy has benefits that poly never can (a level of intimacy and commitment that requires no one being in-between the couple) and you gotta play to win (if you obsess over mitigating shit you can't actually control like a relationship not working out, you will end up never making any plays).

Seriously, some people will refer to polyamory in ancient societies but those polyamorous societies didn't really see "love" present in those relationships. They were usually men who picked up wives who were property, with additional wives typically coming from conquests, the men of these additional wives typically killed while the extra women schemed against each other and their husbands to seek a form a vengeance by getting their child with the oaf to inherit the majority of his holdings. Honestly, if you want to do swinging, which is just for the freaky types out there who want to experience an orgy or something by all means go ahead. Those are things where the couple does them together. Jealousy and boundaries are not as much of an issue because the couple is fucking other people together, so there is less risk of resentment forming. Plus, when the couple leaves the event, they go back to their normal lives and commitment to one another. Swingers seem to be the only variety of these activities that actually has some sustainability. I know old swingers, but I don't know old folks who were in open relationships where the partners dates separately and pursued love lives that were separate from their partners. This goes equally for poly relationships, which always seem to devolve into dynastic wars for inheritance and drama between the partners.

This whimpy generation is so afraid to say no or disagree with someone, to avoid being called a bigot, that they let themselves persuade by subconscious & manipulative fascist tactics, to be fine with all this. That's how the left works. "Political Correctness is nothing but tyranny but with manners" - Charlton Heston On the outside they may all claim that they don't have a problem with this. But eventually over time, they will all suffer deep seeded emotional damage & probably end up in therapy & developing a psychosis from it. That's why this generation is doomed. They will probably also be fine with burglars to visit their homes. I don’t believe in soulmates, because each of us is constantly changing, but rather that some people’s fundamental mentalities “fit” better than others. My husband and I are very opposite on many things, morning versus night, anal versus go with the flow, but very similar on key issues. My husband and I didn’t have a good understanding of each other, along with the shorthand that goes with it, I would say, until about a decade in, when we found through our MBTI personalities that we communicate in fundamentally different ways, but always with logic. It has to make sense to us if you want us to get it. If either of us had simply had other options early on, we might have never gotten the work done to get to this point. I can understand the social constructs that led to polygamy, especially when you consider the role of women in early civilizations, like the man who should marry his brother’s widow. Islam also doesn’t say have at, you must be able to support them both financially equally.
@Lupostehgreat

I'm at 10 with my wife, and staying faithful has lead to me learning how to cope with the impulse to cheat. As a man, monogamy teaches you not to live your life steered by you pee-pee like a little fucking boy. You feel the need to fuck someone else? Jerk it out in the bathroom, you'll feel that post-nut clarity and realize you didn't want them, you just were craving a brief fantasy that was satisfied with the masturbation. You want some variety? Talk with your partner about your sex. If you can't talk with your partner about sex, there is a problem in the relationship that needs to be confronted and overcome. You should be able to talk with your partner about everything, and if you can't work it out together get a couple's counselor and be prepared to possibly change something YOU are doing if the third party sees a problem both of you are contributing to. Monogamy forces you to grow up and not always seek your own pleasure, first.

Same. I'd feel so miserable and disheartened if I saw my partner with other girls. I'd never be able to give my trust and love to someone who looks at me and thinks "Yeah, she's not enough" and goes looking for someone else. I have many trust issues but I always try very hard to give myself completely in a relationship, and I expect nothing less in return. It would destroy me to know that I'm here trying to be the best version of myself only to be thought of as "not enough" and cheated on. I mean, it's legitimate to fall out of love and want something else for yourself, but at that point you just end the relationship like a mature person and only then you look for another partner.

That's not "shaming", it's common sense. I often wonder if the attraction to polyamory by Gen Z is related to their general lack of accountability in general. Real long lasting monogamous relationships are hard work and require each person to be honest with themselves and each other and recognize when they are not pulling their weight whether it’s emotionally, sexually, physically, financially, spiritually or with responsibilities. Recognizing error, apologizing and working to correct bad behaviors and mistakes means you can’t blame the other person or some external catalyst. Seems the trend in the world today is to avoid true accountability by finger pointing and playing victim in every conceivable aspect of life. It’s sad to see people missing out on so much because they have a very skewed view of what a good life is or what goals they should strive to achieve.

Just like the 60's/70's, it's cyclical, skipping a couple generations and coming back into vogue again. They'll learn for themselves how unfulfilling it is, change their ways, and instill different values in their kids. A couple generations will pass where it's not popular (like the 90's/00's), then they'll feel stifled and poly will trend again. We teach history claiming it'll prevent us from repeating the same mistakes as our ancestors, but the reality is we much prefer to make our own mistakes and learn from them.

We know that God exists because there is both no feasible alternative, and no theory which has flawlessly disproven Him. It is why the Bible makes to attempt to argue for the existence of God, instead assuming it. Christianity has an answer to everything. A quality it shares with the truth, because it is.

A very fascinating video, this brings back painful memories which i have been enduring. My relationship of 5 years ended 3 months ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

Crazy people want to have their cake and eat it too. Real relationships don’t work that way. My wife and I did marriage in the truly traditional way, married as virgins, and have never been with anyone else. We often comment on how sorry we feel for people who didn’t follow those old traditions. There is a level of commitment and trust that came with what we did that is impossible to get any other way. We’ve been married for over ten years, and our marriage and love has weathered incredible hardships, even a period of a couple years where I battled ptsd and pretty much shut everyone including her out of my life. Marriage relationships were meant to be an incredibly powerful bond, and anything you do to erode that, even having sex before marriage in a committed relationship, can weaken the marriage later. It should be no surprise that people who embraced casual sex before getting married are unwilling to remain committed to one partner.

What's the point of being in a relationship or getting married if you are going to share with other people? Just date casually because that's what this is. I grew up a portion of my life thinking I wouldn't be able to legally marry. And when it became legal I was able to dream of having a wedding and being fully romantically and sexually committed to one woman for the rest of my life, and I think that is beautiful. If I married someone and she told me she wanted to date others, it would be time for divorce. How disrespectful and callous to treat one's partner that way. To tell one's partner "you're not enough for me." And then the people who bring the kids into it? Gross and confusing for the poor kids. Kids need stable homes and reliable families, not a revolving door of partners their parents are openly getting it on with. A kid should never have to consider his or her parent's sex lives - there should be a boundary there. They should see their parents as boring adults who don't do sexual things. And when they're old enough to understand married people do have sex with each other even if they are boring and old, they should still never see/discuss/think deeply about it. And also, it seems most people involved in this are quite unattractive. Maybe they are always cheating because they aren't attracted to their partners, and that's why they're not satisfied? But then they seem to cheat with equally ugly people so, who knows.

@@jimmcneal5292 I wouldn't say it worked in the Old Testament--both Abraham and Jacob and their respective wives and concubine were all deeply unhappy rather directly due to their polygamy. Solomon was disgraced and lost favor from God due to allowing in idol worship from his harem. David also lost God's favor by trying to hook up with Bathsheba, a married woman. All other mentions of polygamy in the Old Testament were footnotes as far as I recall.

As a muslim, who knows about this topic, the only way you can marry 4 wives is if you swear that you will treat all of them the same, love them all the same, and get them all the same things without mistreating, and ofcourse the husband needs a (sometimes signed) permission from the first wife, but most muslim men nowadays would never get 4 wives

Conditions of polygamy in Islam are many and they are hard to follow for huge chunk of guys: fair treatment, no inclining towards one of wives, equal time spent with each of them, ofc equal financial treatment, let alone intimate fulfillment for all the wives involved. Those who are unfair, abusive or injust will be resurrected as deformed and suffer in Jahannah (hell fire) Polygamy in Islam is certainly not for every man out there. Sometimes it serves a female ( orphans, widows with children, poor women with no male relative to take care of her). And to be totally honest most guys just have their heart for the only one and have no need for more wives as they're happy in monogamous marriage. Also that's true: first wife can stipulate in marriage contract that she doesn't agree to other wives.

I’m not monogamous because of society’s expectations, rather I feel biologically inclined to be this way. There was a girl I started to genuinely like as I talked to her more, and before I knew it I had zero romantic/sexual interest towards any other woman on the planet no matter how good looking/high value they were. There’s no conformity, submitting to expectations or mental gymnastics going on to make me feel this way, it’s a fundamental aspect of how my brain works. Me and this girl stopped talking, but neither of us were ready for a relationship at the time. All I know is that should I get into a relationship I wanna know for sure if the girl I’m talking to is monogamous/mono-amorous. Hot take I don’t mind the idea of polyamory not being shamed because if it’s more normalized people will be more willing to mention that they’re polyamorous. Good! I’ll know who to avoid!

This might be an unpopular opinion here, but I genuinely believe women that have accepted polygamy have simultaneously been severely emotionally hurt and just can’t let go of the idea of feeling like…”ok if I just accept this, maybe I have control of my own emotions.” they don’t feel hope even if they left, they feel like it’s just a given with whatever man they pursue. That whatever man they find, his eyes won’t ever be fulfilled with her. I am one of these women. I’m sorry.

Taking aside everything else, this is also about refusal to grow up. Being an adult means taking responsibility and seeking accountability, and growing up means shedding possibilities and options by making choices. You are not gonna get, do, or be everything you've ever wanted. You sacrifice the ideas, desires, and impulses so you can make real things happen. People nowadays are trying so hard to live in a dream world where they can become anything at anytime and there will never be any consequences for anything, yet alone any discomfort or hardship or necessity of growth. They demand other people are always ready to accept a part in that playacting and never confront them with reality. But here's the thing: it's impossible. You are making choices and they do have consequences, you are losing all other possibilities by the very fact of time passing let alone by living some sort of life, you are shaping yourself with your choices and the kind of person you make yourself into does matter. Something something this ideology prays on the parentlessness and loneliness epidemic but also creates so much more of it for the next generation.
