Making trans no longer about folks with legit gender dysphoria opened the door for every uncomfortable teen and attention seeker to hop on the LGBT train. You can't disprove feelings. You can't claim gay when your dating habits are straighter than a ruler, and the pan/demisexual stuff was ignored by most or seen as dumb. But you can say you're trans, dye your hair, still be as straight as a ruler, but now you can also call yourself gay (it's a fun 2 for the price of one!) It's like a free for all with everything "the community" used to represent. Plus, the pretending to be another race thing didn't work out, but this one did. Notice that was attempted too. Victimhood is worth woke points and these sad folks are cashing in. I've heard enough (girls mostly) express pure disgust for straightness, whiteness, maleness and feminity some years back, but instead of growing out of it the media reinforced it as fact. It actually just makes me laugh when pronoun morons learn that you don’t agree with the misuse of a tool of language, and start purposefully using the wrong pronouns for you. What do they think they’re accomplishing? Are they not aware that an actual woman isn’t going to be insecure about whether or not she looks “woman” to the rest of the world? She _is_ one, she knows that, no one can change that. I’m confident in being a woman, because my biological reality makes that abundantly and irrefutably clear every time I go to change my clothes. It doesn’t matter to me what clothes I wear, if I wear makeup or not, my shoes, my hair, what have you. My womanhood isn’t so superficial as the things I put on or off every day, it is what I am to the very deepest levels of my being. Call me a a “he” all you want, it won’t get me riled up because we’re both fully aware of how stupid you look doing that.

Yes!! I feel the same. I'm 39 and lately I've found myself unable to even stand Gen Z. They are exhausting. They are literally making the world a worse place while also ironically going around with nostalgia for the 90's and Y2K. Just like how they make fun of how millennials dress while unironically spending all their money on clothes from the 90's and 2000's. It's nice to see that not all Gen Z suck. I think they're missing the other half when it comes to especially the concept of mistakes, among similar things. They're acting as if the mistake is fixed, among other things. Like they can't grow from it. For example, if someone calls me stupid, there's nothing, besides myself, that can keep me from learning and being smarter. If I'm bad at something, I can learn and become better. The solution, in a sense, is to remember you can level up. You can choose to. But perhaps some don't want to, for whatever reason.

This is my main thought as well. If a biological female truly wants to be considered a male and vice versa, I will try to accommodate, but I’m concerned that a portion of the group might be not quite fully understanding what gender dysphoria is (Since, really, who can perfectly understand another’s feelings?) and think the line between having gender dysphoria and just not conforming to gender stereotypes is a lot blurrier then it is.

I have not found labels to be something teenagers are obsessed with, but young children are. It’s normal for them to also create fictional identities for themselves, and generation Z was victim of pretty much having enough of their childhood taken away by both their parents believing that they should do so in order for them to grow up to be normal healthy adults and not the adult children, and school administration believing they needed to hunker down on how much homework they hand out and reducing hours of Recess drastically. It’s crucial that a child has plenty of free time to think on their own and have unstructured play, but if these needs aren’t attended to, that’s how you get adult children. The thing is, forcing a child not be a child doesn’t help them be an adult when they need to be an adult. That’s the whole point of childhood, they be a child, not pretend to be an adult when they’re not in adult yet.

well me being close to 40 now when i was in school there was still not much of any label really and if i was asked ''why dont you do like ALL the others?'' my reply was usually ''you just said it... theyre ALL doing it...its fishy'' but that was and is still me even at 4-5 yo i refused to walk on all four and bark like a dog at kindergarden because it was dumb

Narcissistic behaviours is always domestic and harmful. It can also be done in subtle ways, and then it’s more manipulative.

That time I was thinking, "Are you f kidding me?" As this type of a person, it was such ironical. Like, if you don't want to be a "part of it", then they'll force you anyway because you can't refuse. It really made me think that I am a wrong person, even more wrong that any of queer people in existence.

I recently heard about being demi-sexual. Its a label for people who have to fall in love with someone emotionally before they do sexually. Couldnt you just say i look for personality in girls/guys? Or you know i dont like one night stands i like meaningful long term relationships with people i can talk alot to? Mental disorders are just labels. You can't prove you have a mental disorder. They are merely labels used to group patients with similar problems in order to help with research and standardized care. You "have" a mental disorder if a doctor labels you with one, but that doesn't prove anything. All it proves is that according to that doctor you do indeed feel depressed and that it's bad enough to warrant professional care.

I totally feel you, and it definitely can feel comforting if there is some sort of umbrella term for a psychosis you’re going through. I recently found out that the mental health issue that I’ve been dealing with my whole adolescence was borderline personality disorder, which I’ve been successfully healing through. It was the one and only thing that seem to match up with absolutely every single symptom I’ve ever experienced with my psychosis, I knew I had a lot of childhood PTSD, but just everything that was listed in the video I watched about BPD really helped That aside though, I’m personally against this whole concept that we need to “prove “that we’re not crazy, because that’s not our responsibility, it’s those other peoples fault that they don’t see you as someone who is deeply sad and scared and needs help, that’s their problem that they’re not willing to see through to see you as a person that just needs love and comforting, There’s something wrong if people can only legitimize your emotions if you have a “official diagnosis “. I’m sorry, even though we call it meant to illness, that does not mean it’s a disease. You do not need to be properly diagnosed, and I think that’s a huge problem with society today and especially the psychiatric community. You’re so over obsessed with labels, that they forget that many of these “separate disorders “actually have the same route, which is really the point, we’re supposed to go to the root and cure what started there, not just find new labels for things. In other words, you don’t need proof that you’re not crazy, because you’re not crazy, it’s OK to be depressed, it’s OK to be sad, it’s OK to be psychologically not OK. It’s OK to just not be OK in general, and if it nobody else except that, that’s not your problem, that’s absolutely 100% theirs. I know it feels good to prove something to these people who have denied you for so long, but the truth is, they ain’t worth it if you have to prove to them that you have a psychosis rather than them taking you seriously for you just admitting that you’re depressed without any sort of diagnosis background. I've worked with a few people who identify as lesbian, gay and trans, and yet everyone in our group still respected them and made them feel part of the team without stereotypes or bullying them. They are still human and deserve to live their private lives, as long as they don't impose or force others as 'This is me, my pronoun is _____' As a team we knew and we didn't mind, because these labels didn't define them. Their creativity and talents were truly amazing, though! 😃

And invasive behaviours too. Before people wouldn't pay any mind to my OR scars, if I didn't want to tell that was fine. But with those gen z, you have to justify everything or they gonna harass you. One of them even touched my scar in highschool like "are you faking tha-" so I instinctively punched her, and got in trouble with the school.

It's quite ironic tbh, even the first LGBT movements were against being labeled and stereotyped; they wanted the world to recognize that they're much more than their sexualities - they have dreams, ambitions, personality, and traits that are unrelated to that. Now, apparently some people want to resume their whole individuality on their gender/sexuality, and this feels like a regression.

I never really wanted a label either even as a teen, I just wanted to look cute and feel popular. I didn't care if people saw me as popular, although the things I did with my hair and the fragrances I wore I didn't mind comments on for sure. That was a very short phase, probably a year or two.

You've got a point. Millennials aren't too far off either. While they're a lot better than Gen Z, a huge chunk of them still encourage this kind of behavior and that was what enabled a lot of Gen Z people to end up the way they are. Still, Gen Z should also be held accountable for this.

When I was in college, it was really the professors a generation older that had laid the groundwork for this stuff. Non-binary wasn't really a common thing at all, but the word on the street was that gender is a social construct, a performance, and it needs to be questioned and dismantled. Maybe there's something to that, but there was a lot of bullshit mixed in as well. So it goes back a long ways if we're looking for who to blame.

As a 13 year old I'm really scared for the future because of people in this generation. I think we're too "soft" to develop as a community and help each other out. I won't be surprised if the world suddenly ends though.

Information overload only makes you less sensitive because you see so many bad things that your brain starts to think they are normal, it's like femicide, you hear about it everyday from the news and you don't get shocked. I think traumas, anxiety and other illnesses come from personal experiences in real life, living in 2022 we are often more "privileged" compared to our parents and grandparents who got tougher growing up with bigger problems. If you are not used to poverty, suffering, disrespect, neglect, hate or other negative experiences in life (not all of course but most kids) you won't be able to deal with minor inconveniences in life. In other words, if someone misgendering you is one of the worse things that happened to you it will feel like an emotional stab

I think there's a thin like between wanting your pronouns to be respected to forcing people to bend around you to respect your identity. Like they/them exists in actual grammar, everyone knows what it is and how to use it but a lot of these newer gen Z identities that use stuff like "Neo Pronouns" legitimately require you to learn a shit ton of new made up words just to refer to that person in third person. That is the line I don't think we should cross, english is already confusing enough and instead of making do with what they have they actively just make up new words and demand people to study it like it matters.

You shouldn't be so eager to "respect" them. The pronoun thing is a con job, and they have disrespected you by asking. The pronouns in question are YOURS, not theirs. That's not how language works. The pronouns you use don't belong to others, they belong to you. Don't let people trick you into surrendering what is yours. Pronouns are used when you refer to people, not when you talk to them directly. And how you refer to people is entirely up to you; it is influenced by respect (you will refer to others respectfully if they have earned your respect), but ultimately it's your choice, exclusively. Someone can say to you, "I am a woman", and you might perceive them that way, and then you might refer to them with female pronouns. But if you don't perceive them that way, and you allow them to trick you into consciously overriding your perception of them and using speech that does not come naturally, you have surrendered something to them, and they have given nothing in return. Because ultimately, all identity is negotiated. The part of identity that is self-defined is unique, impossible to convey, and largely irrelevant. You can "identify" as a genius, but if you walk into the room and say stupid things, your identity is actually that of an idiot - that is how people perceive you, that is the identity you negotiated with them, through words and actions. Who you are then, is an ever shifting mutual agreement; a compromise and middle ground between the image you want to project, and the image you actually did project. As such, you can influence your identity, but you can't define it. To put it simply, the pronoun game is an attempt to dodge the negotiation entirely; to demand that which should be earned.

It's worth noting, dressing and behaving according to a general broad template for gender? Actually part of the social contract. People agree to treat you and refer to you in a certain way, based on you adhering to certain patterns, to avoid misunderstandings. To meet everyone in the middle. If you break that part of the contract by drastically deviating from those patterns... well, that'd be why they didn't show you all the respect you think you're due. Because oddly enough... you actually didn't show them the basic respect of adhering to the same social contract that binds them. "It's an easy thing to do and it doesn't take anything away from you by doing it." It literally does, as I've explained. How you refer to other people is your right; whether you do so respectfully is a matter of individual choice, with the caveat that it goes both ways. If someone has earned your respect, and you don't show them the respect they've earned, you have lost their respect, and they can withhold it the way you did. You may as well go around saying, "I'd like you to refer to me as your best friend and a wonderful person when talking about me to other people, or I'll be sad and it'll be your fault." That's not how this works. That's not how society works, and it's not how language works as a middle ground for individual experience. You don't get to change the basic social contract on a whim. You see, this argument presents you in a very, very bad light. I was always confused by this. Why should I force to label myself? For example, why should I be in Asexual spectrum if I am not interested in relationships for now, or never gave it a thought, or don't think that sex matters? Why should I analyse each type of feelings, to distinct different types of love? People are so happy to accept themselves and have representation in media, they are fully aware of their pride flags and clear definitions, but for me, it's just terrifying. I don't want to be labeled, I don't want to realise that I am 1% of world population, I don't want to seperate myself from the community. I just want to be a person, and have other definitions than just queer. I never felt happy or proud with who I am. I never felt the need to distinct one thing from the another. I just took it as something natural. I want to feel and not to question it all the time. Besides everything I just said, I don't think that it actually matters. For me, it's not about liking "men" or "women" or "this sexually, that romantically". For me, it's about loving a particular person. And everything that is about you and them. What you've been through together. That's all. Feelings and relationships are too complicated to label everything all the time, and I don't understand people who make it a big deal.

@@marseillejoh I decided not to partake in the pronoun games anymore because using people's preferred pronouns actually gives point to the gender theory which ultimately lets biological men, some genuine in their woman identity and some other with very nefarious intentions, in spaces specifically designed for women's bodily safety and intimacy and women's sports. That's why I decided not to do it anymore n
