India still has SINGLE screen theatres.. old fashioned projector screens too. AND they make solid money. One theatre in my area got tore down to make shopping plaza and people gave it sobbing goodbye.

1:19:11 basant, So basically kite flying is a big festive celebration in India. It is known as utrayan in Gujarati which is basically celebration of harvest its similar celebrate in different parts of India with different name, it's call lohri in Punjabi, Pongal in Tamil, onam in Malayalam. Which is celebrated on around 14 January every year. So in Gujarat we celebrate it with family and friends are on the terrace of their house, there's music (modern addition to it), people celebrate it fly kites, and have good healthy competition. It is so popular that Gujarat government officially has additional celebration in the city of Ahmedabad where kite enthusiast from across the globe visit to showcase therir amazing huge kites. It's worth visiting. Happy to know it's also a thing across the border, sad to know they banned it :( Even in India, chemically and harsh threads (manja) are banned but they can't ban the festival.

actually, so many cases of throat cut were reported around 2015,16 due to the mismanagement only, so govt has to ban the Basant. But gd to know that its still active there in India

bro qasam se isi trha idr bhi tha. gany or tyarian. proper mtlb eid se zyada celebrate ki jany wala ye festival tha idr. lakin us chkr me log roz uraty thy kites or bht accidents hoty thy. gov should've banned the regular kite flying or kuch din soecific hony chahiye basant k. lakin unfortunately unho ne over all hi ban kr dia

Yeh banda bohot udaas nikla yar. His song was so happy. Great guy. One thing you have to admit. All the mistakes he made taught him the right thing. And now he knows what is right. By his own journey. The other alternative would be someone telling you. But iska experience is priceless. Your own journey and your own reward. I think this guy is a gem. Hats off to Aalu Anday too. Loved that song.

@1:23:14 - Growing up in Lahore, Basant was undoubtedly the best fun I could remember. It was just a jolly and lively atmosphere all around in Lahore. Just seeing people people dancing and being happy was a treat! Here in Perth (Australia), we have annual Basant festival on a Sunday in October/November each year (not happening for the past two years due to Covid) and it would be thousands of people coming by to fly kites and take part in festivities. It has been so popular that the state government and other organisations now provide sponsorship for the event.

it was a great podcast with one minor issue. your guest keeps talking from a distance from the mic which you obviously could'nt notice but we listeners clearly could as a lot of his sentences keep getting faded . which is why i recommend you wear headphones so you can better analyse and solve this issue
