Growing up, the gender reveal was done in baby showers. Either the invitations said “it’s a boy/girl” or you arrived to the baby shower and the decor said it.

I went to a gender reveal party a couple of years back and I was given a cup cake 🧁 I didn't realise that the gender was inside of the cake and I ate the whole thing. I was then handed another one as there were too many and still didn't know that I was supposed to look at the colour of the icing. The baby boy is almost 2 years old now and that shit still haunts me 💀

When my baby cousin first became an older sister, she was like 4, her dad brought her to the hospital and after her sister was born they showed her sleeping in the crib and were like "Hey look you're a big sister now, you have a younger sister!" She got so disappointed and said, "No I wanted a brother."

If a family wants to do something small and nice for a gender reveal like letting their children pop a balloon or cutting into a cake then I say go for it. I know lots of families who did it during COVID-19 just to give themselves something to look forward to and something fun to do. I just wish people wouldn't go so extreme with it.
