A very painful history with such beautiful language in Louisiana. but very important to learn about. I would love to hear your opinion on terms In kouri vinni aka “ Louisiana creole/kréyòl” and in le français la louisianais aka “ Cajun French” that are not acceptable in or by today’s standards. Not acceptable by speakers that or more European en yê couleur for sure. Many white Louisiana francophones may refer to their own close white family in some of these terms that are possibly hurtful if heard by outsiders of the culture. .. ça-s-fé , Qwa to pensé apré ça? paròl-çala-yé apé té-parlé ? .............What ya think about it? Those words being spoken ?

A lot of our terms are offensive in English because Latin peoples in the colonies have a different experience. But those same terms are used in all Latin populations in former colonies and aren't offensive to us at all. Nèg/négrès for example, is both a physical descriptor for dark brown skin people, AND a term of endearment meaning "sweetheart/baby/honey/boyfriend/girlfriend." Louisiana Creoles who now identify as Cajun use these terms towards "themselves" and towards their family of color. I can go on and on and on. Our culture is mostly lost in translation.

The Landry family is related to our Bourgeois family; i.e. Jacques Bourgeois, b. circa 1633 in the Alcase-Lorraine District of France.

Hey I have a question can Cajun French speakers and creole speakers understand each other without issue?
@ninpobudo38765 жыл бұрын
Somewhat... Cajun French is a dialect of French while Creile F French is more of a hybrid (mixed) African, Spainish and French!!!
