An instructional video on coloring in a design with the Inktense Pencils by Derwent Art. I forgot to discuss heat setting. Simply cover with a press cloth and press with a hot iron after the piece has dried for 24 hours.
There will be a file with supplies and basic instructions on my blog at blog.geneblack.com/2019/10/th...
For this video we included a blooper at the end.
I apologize for the low quality of this video. I will upload a higher quality version as time permits

Just found your channel and love the music I grew up listening to so many as my dad and brother would sing every Sunday at my grandmas house

Thank you for the great video, i like how you are so calm. My sister got me the set of 36 for my birthday and i don't think I ironed long enough because the colors washed out almost gone. I'll try again, ty for the video

Thanks Barbara. I guess I need to check out mine and see how they wash.

Thank you! I really enjoyed your video. I recently added inktense blocks to use with my fiber medium art. Thanks for giving me the courage to jump on in and give them a whirl!

Thanks, I have since added the inktense blocks to my "supply stash" also.

Thank you. As a quilt maker, embroiderer, and colorist I have been seeking a method of controlled coloring on fabric that does not stiffen the fabric. I purchased the inktense pencils, and now you have shown me what I need to use them the way I want to.

I enjoy using watercolor pencils on paper, these inktense pencils look like they work very much the same on fabric. Thank you for sharing.

They are very similar but the because the fabric reacts differently than paper there is a difference in how they work.

Very nice demonstration. I've never heard of these pencils until I saw that you've used them on your blog and I love the results. It's quite a process and thanks for sharing your talents.

Kathleen, I have had them for several years. I think I got them when my main creative thrust was painting.

When using Aloe Vera Gel, is the painted fabric stiff when dried?
@GeneBlack
@GeneBlack 3 жыл бұрын
I didn't find it to be stiff...and it certainly won't be after heat setting and washing the fabric

Do you heat set by turning it over and ironing or do you use another method?

The others I have seen on KZfaq demonstrating inktense pencils, used only water, and no one has mentioned heat setting the work

You could do it with just water, but the aloe vera gel (or textile medium) helps to avoid the color runs that you may get with water.

That petal that ended up with a Too-dark edge... perhaps if you re-wet it, you could Blot some of the dark off... ?

Thanks, these were just demo pieces. I don't think I kept it. My experience is that the black is more difficult to remove.
