My personal theory. The predators, after losing one of there own to a native species of the planet. Try to investigate the who, how, and why it happened. Judging from there, if they see the species, or specimen as worthy, other predators test themselves against that said species or try to find any relation to that species that reflects the strength, ability or tenacity that the particular species had. Dutch's brother could have been a target for that method.

Usually, the predators overlook the one predator on the planet. If they figured that the self-destruct exploded, they wouldn’t go and investigate, unless the biomask survived. They will send one or two, but for another hunt.

I don't think the classic predators, such as the Jungle Hunter and the City Hunter would try to take revenge on someone. They're too honorable. The Super Predators from the 'Predators' movie don't seem to still hold the same honor code, they take revenge on pray that they escaped them or killed a Yautja, as seen when the lead super predator blew up Noland with a plasma caster rather than killing him and keeping his skull for a trophy.

the jungle hunter wasnt honorable…what is honorable about killing someone with a plasma caster while cloaked?the jungle hunter was “honorable”because his hunt was so damn easy he wanted to see what dutch could actually do.also the prey is different,why would you be honorable to handpicked prey that is the most dangerous from its world?super predators used their prey to learn and modify,while jungle was on a traditional hunt and city was right of passage.

@@yungxtsunamiyt8996 he’s was honorable it’s just all hunters pick who they think is worth their time and I’m sorry but most of that team in the jungle were grunts when compared to Dutch and billy hence why he fought them only and the predators in predators are all super predators and are all designated as bad bloods in predator lore because they don’t believe that if a prey doesn’t have a weapon or is a child or bearing children should be spared they kill you regardless and even tho falconer was honorable their will also be exceptions but they used some of their best technology they used animals and worst of all they took them from their planet and put them on a hunting planet they they have the home field advantage plus that plasma caster may seam unfair but they have a rule that if the prey has projectile weapons it’s fine to use them unless they’re fighting in hives of aliens they normally would never use them against prey that only uses brute strength and they also almost never have any armor too you say it’s unfair but if you think about it they have weapons that make the plasma caster look like a pea shooters in comparison and it also depends on the clan some being far more advanced but jungles clan is pretty tame especially when compared to black using a Gatling version that had the same power as a normal caster

It would go against the Yautja's code to hunt the same game twice. Since they couldn't hunt Dutch again, it would make sense for a Yautja to want to find a human with DNA as close to Dutch's as possible. They didn't hunt Dutch's brother out of revenge, the brother was picked as worthwhile prey. The Yautja don't seem like the sort of species to seek revenge after a "fair" fight. At least as long as the Yautja thought it was fair. However the self destruct gizmo kind of works against this theory. FWIW, I've only seen Predators 1, 2 and AVP. I haven't read any of the books or comics. There's a very good chance I'm imposing an ethics system on these aliens which isn't justified by the source material. One problem with Hollywood movies is there isn't any guarantee of consistency between movies. As we saw with *The Last Jedi,* long established universe rules can be thrown out at the whim of the newest director. So even if the Yautja have some sort of ethics concerning prey, there's no guarantee future movies will abide by these rules.

From what I can tell you, this doesn't seem to go against any source material I know of, so I'd take this as probably true lol This would also lead into maybe the reason why the Lost Tribe hunted in LA in 1990. Maybe because after they found a detective in New York that seemed to be good prey, they might've been interested in Mike Harrigan a year later considering him to be worthwhile game since their experience with a previous detective was... Let's just say bad for them to say the least lolol

Personally i'd say a good explaination is that the encounter with Dutch surprised the species, after all, even though they visited Earth for centuries, they still were newcomers, hunting parties dispatched for competitive prey seperated by decades due to the long distances involved in interstellar travel, even for a species with such advanced technology as them. It wasn't a scientific, in depth, long term scientific study - for this is not their way, probably transfering the frustrating labor to their AIs long before the first human banged two rocks together. Until then they had concentrated on the less civilized areas for compeditive prey, as they assumed to find the most fierce specimens there. The encounter with Dutch changed this assessment. They simply reasessed and switched priorities of operation area and the subsequent defeat of another hunter seemed to validate the new paradigm. They didn't really avoid more populated areas out of fear of detection - their equipment specifically tailored to that particular task. They simply weren't interested. Until now... Sampling commenced. Various contenders were captured and transfered to an ispolated testing facility for more in depth study. The endeavour nearly ended in total catastrophe with the loss of a starship and the possibility of technology for interstellar travel ending in the hands of a prey species, which was barely avoided by destruction of the ship in the last moment by the intervention andsacrifice of a on site security guard.

Great comments. The original ending to Predators showed how impressed they were with Dutch - at the end when Adrian Brody and the female characters had just killed the last hunter, a cloaked ship appeared and landed in front of them. A door opened and six predators filed out but instead of attacking they formed two lines on either side of the ramp and waited until another predator walked out. The predator then took his mask off and it was Dutch appearing in a cameo with the line ‘not bad kid, not bad’ and the movie ended. That was the original ending scripted. I think there was either a pay dispute or an availability issue with Arnold that squashed it. I’m sure you can google it. Mr H Reviews talked about it in a video too. Would have been a great ending imo. I think that movie was underrated a bit.

@@chrisdooley6468 The original ending does sound really cool, but then again wouldn't Dutch have PTSD from his first encounter and he would hate them? He watched as his team was picked apart and he was the last one. I don't think he would've joined them lol Maybe that's another reason that ending was cut, because I think the ending now where they're stranded on the planet was a good ending. There's a comic about it continuing where it leaves off but it never goes anywhere. Maybe in a future comic, the regular Yautja come back and send Royce and his female friend back to earth lol Idk

Another great video from Alien Theory. I read the comic books of the predators in New York when they came out, and it was a good read. And it, as do the movie Predator 2, make a point out of that the Yautja prefers to hunt in a warm climate. But In Alien vs. Predator, they fight it out in a pyramid in Antartica, that the Yautja supposedly built as a fighting arena/training ground. Why the heck would they build such a site at the coldest place on Earth, if they favour warm climate so much?
@ddegn
@ddegn 5 жыл бұрын
The Antarctica site could be used as a sort of right of passage. It's done in a cold place to increase the challenge. Hunts in warm areas are for the fun of it. The Antarctica site might also be used frequently enough that they wanted to keep it away from the prying eyes of humans. Antarctica is the only continent without a large city. Its remoteness could be another reason it was used.

Also it's more cost effective way keeping the alien queen frozen with the environment being what it is then warm the place up. If it was kept in a warmer climate they would have to keep it artificially frozen which comes with it's own problems being that they spend so long away from the place at any time.
@havareriksen3395
@havareriksen3395 5 жыл бұрын
At first I too saw the frozen environment as just a way to keep the queen in hibernation. However, as we saw in Aliens, the xenomorphs go into some sort of hibernation when there is no active prey for them to hunt and gather for the hive. Thus the cold is not necessary to get them into hibernation. And though the xenomorphs also like to keep close to heat sources, they can function in the vacuum of space so freezing them may not really do all that much. Also, as we saw in Alien, the eggs were in hibernation or rather suspended animation by a stasis field, and only when Kane interfered with the field did the facehugger inside the egg awaken. This technology must be easy and robust, since The Delerict had crash landed and been on LV 426 a long time when the crew on the Nostromo entered it. And was still functioning when the colonists of Hadley's Hope entered the Delerict. So there would not even be any need to keep a queen permanent on Earth, as long as they got a good stock of eggs in stasis. If they had this pyramid in a more temperate climate, there would be no need for any of the quite extensive heating system incorporated into the antartic pyramid. The stasis field would only need a little electricty, far less than what was used in the prods used on the queen. Keeping the site hidden from humans seems counter productive, since according to the hieroglyfs in the pyramid, the Yautja had human subjects and made them build the pyramids and volunteer to be hosts for the xenomorphs. So humans built that darned pyramid and the Yautja would need a steady supply of hosts to breed the xenomorphs which creates it's own problems since no humans were anywhere near Antartica for thousands of years. In the movie the researchers theorized that the pyramid was built during a period when either the climate on Earth was warmer or Antartica due to continental drift were further north, so there would be no ice or harsh climate there at the time. If that was the case, they'd have had to refurbish the pyramid with heating to account for the colder climate. But that would be after there'd be no humans around there, so why bother and not just use one of the pyramids in warmer climates for the hunts instead? The interpretation of the hieroglyphs and the cutscenes seems to indicate that several ancient cultures were wiped out when the Yutja where overwhelmed by the xenomorphs during hunts and activated their portable nukes. These cultures would be in Latin America, Africa and Asia and be more like the favoured hunting grounds for the Yutja compared to Antartica. They tried to be inventive writing a new story for this script, but they managed to make it so that there's alot of controversy on how it all fits together with both the Alien and the Predator universes.

I think it comes down to worthiness. The biggest lion makes the best trophy. I haven't read to many Predator comics, but from what I can tell Dutch's brother being in New York was probably just coincidence. For the most part the Yautja don't seem to hold a grudge. Maybe this one did know that Detective Schaefer was Dutch's brother. I could see another Yautja wanting to go after Dutch himself, not for revenge but for the glory of bringing back that particular trophy. Maybe there are some Yautja who are like Ahab in Moby Dick, but I wouldn't consider that the norm. After all Detective Harrigan killed one in it's own ship. Harrigan was rewarded by the other Yautja and allowed to live. Of course maybe that wasn't normal behavior. If I am correct, the jungle hunter was young. His mirroring of Dutch's question, "What the hell are you?" shows that maybe that hunter wasn't as familiar with humans as some other hunters. The Yautja that gave Harrigan the pistol was far older, and more familiar with humans. The Yautja are a lot like humans in that they have different personalities. And as someone who has hunted before, I know that hunters are the biggest proponents for conservation. They don't want to see their pray wiped out, because then there would be no sport. So I doubt the Yautja want to wipe us out. Not unless we became threat to them on a galactic scale. Because unlike the Yautja, humans do hold a grudge and we kill for pleasure far more than for sport.

I mean the Battle ground of France during WW1 aren't exactly hot. I've also read other comics that have them in Alaska or Canada. I think it just depends on that Predators preferred type of location and Prey. I mean a gang fight in that populated of a city has gotta have a few bad-asses between the gangs and police so it should have some worthy Prey.

My theory is that they simply target volatile regions and prefer hot climates [either for comfort, or to reduce the effectiveness of their thermal sensors.] A gang war, is still a war as far as they are concerned. Though this is based on the second film [which I've seen] and not the comic [that i haven't read.]

They actually pay respect to those who are up to the task. Despite that they are certainly not above leaving a smouldering crater when it comes to protecting their secrets. Vengance is a concept too human to ascribe to them, i think. The worst mistake one could make is to anlign their motivation to ours. Future directors, beware. Fear of the unknown an all that.

no i dont think they seek revenge, they seem to see it as, if one of them fell in battle to another, its not so much revenge as it is the thrill of a worthy prey. one that was badass enough to take one of them down despite no ware near their technology.

Think revenge is something the Predators might feel particularly if a specific place or human(s) tend to repeatedly best a particular tribe/clan of Predators but the strict Yautja honor code seems to be pretty strict about Honor even when fighting Humans that seem apparently worthy enemies more then prey. Else why not just skewer the smaller weaker human with your fave spear or blade or vaporize them with your shoulder canon if your a Predator fighting them? Clearly they can but regardless of the Clan they all seem to follow apparently clear rules of conduct. Else why not slaughter or entirely shove outta the way and ignore every or most humans that get in the way??

In AvP requiem when the predator sees his fellow predator vanquished it appears he takes it personally. Its possible that this predator was seeking personal vendetta with what he thought was Dutch Schaeffer

I could have sworn in the book, it was mentioned that the reason the Predators were after Schafer, was because after they scanned him with one of their masks, they were able to determine he was related to Dutch. But I could be wrong. It's been a LONG time since I read the book.

I believe they wanted a worthy battle. They knew what Dutch was capable of, they saw Schaefer was a figure of power and authority, yet another worthy opponent. They don’t kill just to kill, but you know that already. My theory is that they wanted a tough battle and went for the prime meat.

I don't think it's revenge that the Yautja seek, I think it's more of they take interest. One of the things the jungle hunter was doing at the end of the battle was arming his tech destroying bomb, but I feel he was also sending some sort of download to the ship. It's stated in other movies that when one of them dies, things get interesting. I also think it was pure irony that they ran into Dutch's brother in New York. Why the shift north? New York was experiencing a heat wave. They seek xenomorhps due to their instinct based tactics, their aggression, and natural abilities. They seek humans because we don't have natural weapons, but we're very resourceful.

I don't think they would seek revenge, there would be no honor in revenge. But the may seek out those who can kill a Yautja as they would be considered a worthy hunt/fight. Anything/anyone capable of killing one of their own would pique their interest and might even be bragging rights. "I can kill that which can kill Yautja" it's not just prey at that point, but bit of a challenge.

Personally I view the Yautja as more of a worthiness of the prey they hunt. I don't believe the hunters are interested in revenge, at least not once they are blooded. When they are young and stupid through and have never been on a hunt yes, but in the expanded material such as AVP trillogy Prey, Hunters Planet, and War, we see instances in which young bloods seek the revenge of their fallen "master", granted that was only used as an excuse to hunt humans, something that young bloods are forbidden to do unless they are deemed worthy and while I personally don't like the first AVP film as I would prefer, as it breaks this rule. So on the grand scale, unless we know what the clan this hunter was from, and if it was a young blood or not, I think it would be more of a coincidence. However I haven't had a chance to read the comic, so I can't pinpoint it more than that.

Might be a coincidence. Well - a partial coincidence, if the Yautja are looking out for exceptional specimens, this might have led one of them to a particular detective. Also, I would not worry all that much about all out war, as it's not the same as a hunt. So to a certain degree Yautja could be negotiated with, so they and people might fight in arranged duels, where those very special people, who survive, get some kind of a prize - precious metals, something else valuable and exotic or perhaps even some piece of alien technology (nah.. that's hardly gonna happen).

The comic shows that the Predator blood extends the life of humans and considering the quest for immortality and how to stay forever young in our culture, one would think a Predator film would use that as the driving force behind why humans are hunting and trying to capture the Predators. It also give a film the chance to show the Predator having honor while humans have none . Its a big change and I understand it is a movie but why do the Predators keep getting killed in single combat against a human? Because they have honor and are looking for a true challenge of a perfect specimen like Dutch, but the code of their whole culture is to fight with honor and make it as close to a fair fight as they can outside of bad bloods of course. Every Predator film has given us a human that overcomes adversity and kills a bigger,faster,stronger,smarter, and with technology that is lightyears ahead of us in hand to hand combat and that is what we love about the first Predator and the second. But that concept has been played out. But if humans are able to capture a couple of young bloods of some importance in their clan then show how brutal the humans are to those captured Predators even a particular human that enjoys causing them pain in a sadistic way while they start to drain the blood from the Predators to fuse with their own giving them a couple hundred years of life without aging. You could go darker and have humans cutting peices of the Predators off so they can eat it to gain some extra years. But overall the reversal of who the audience is pulling for and hoping wins. Mabey its not a good idea but I think the reworking of the Predator universe is desperately needed and after the trainwreck called The Predator we need a refreshing new look.

i really don't think Revenge is the Yautja's style .. They hunt things that could just as easily hunt them.. As for the Bomb on there arm i don't think its them being sore looser's, because they wouldn't want there technology polluting an underdeveloped culture or planet .. My thought is why the bombs aren't set off directly by the Yautja's death or why they don't have self destruct device's on the equipment they're constantly dropping .. All that stuff could have been taken care of from orbit no life signs ok destroy the Body.. The hunting tools to far from the hunter ok blow it up .. i love the movies but if the Yuatja were real i think they'd do thing's a bit different..
