In this video, we're going to show you how to use the RAND and RANDBETWEEN in Google Sheets to generate a set of random numbers that add up to a specific value. You'll be able to generate multiple sets of random numbers that add up to any value you want. This can be done with decimal numbers as well as integers. Consider this a hack or workaround to scripting something in Python or JavaScript as a quick solution you can easily put together in Google Sheets.

@@DougHExcel if there a large set of data and if we need to split the each row amount randomly to get the desired results of sum total.,this will be very hard. I succeeded in finding a solution in powerquery, even though in amateur style. I would like to bring this problem into your attention for finding a pro style solution with powerquery.

Hi Doug, thank you for the tutorial. I want to get a specific formula on Google Sheets, I want to have a 4-digit invoice number, that should refresh every time I create a new invoice, here is the catch, I want the total of the invoice to be number 7. Please please don't ask me why. Thanks a tonne in Advance.
