I also water the generator after fill up. So no sprinkles of gas have the volatililty. I dug out the grass where the exhaust is so its dirt 5feet where the exhaust exits. Have a 12000starting/8500watt running. But only operate at 4500watts. I dont want it running anthing over 50-60% max output. Why? Because its less efficient and it creates higher load temps on the windings. 3.5ton ac, 2 fridgerators deep freezer, led lights ceiling fans and various small electronics. I operate at about 4000watts. 1gallon of gas gets 2hours operation. At night 10pm nothing but ac on generator we use flashlights. I get about 3½hours a gallon. Daytime generator in yard at night in the garage with door lifted high as exhaust.

I gas my generator up while running it hasn’t shut off since power went out yesterday morning. Did it in the rain and today no issues. Then again I’m a pro specially trained technician so probably don’t try this at home.
