Great tips, thanks! You should get a paper towel holder and mount it under your desk. Easy to grab and keeps the roll out of the way.

I like Badgers Spray-Thru Airbrush Cleaner, use it in the same way as the Vallejo Thinners, home brew cleaner first, Spray-Thru to finish, works great

so delicate them i sanded tip on one of a Chinese air brush needle after id bent tip it done job untill i got more and new decent airbrushes ,👍

I've wondered about the quality of the finish of my needle. OK its a Fengda starter brush and my fingernail will pick up the turning grooves on the needle, even at the tip. Having worked in precision engineering for 40 years where precision parts are very polished. Grooves didn't look right on something where flow mattered. I shall give the working part of the needle a little polish. Unless someone says NOooo?

Ooh, the last word word on compressors taught me something. My cheap and cheerful beginner compressor just died (4 years old), so next one will have a tank. I can't describe the feeling of despair that comes with that moment you are geared up, mentally set, gonna do this camo just right, and...no air.

The tips about the needles feels a little tricky to me. There is a risk that you will damage the needle if you aren't careful. The tip about the compressor tank is right. I will add an extra tank to my compressor. My experience is that a constant airflow is even important as the paint itself.

I agree for the needle. If your needle is fine ... dont mess with it. But if it is bent, considering the price of a replacement, it may worth a try..

Ive been using your home brew thinners and for cleaning my airbrush for ages , but do you know you can brew your own laquer thinner? Its acetone, water, and ipa, in the following ratio 1:5: 4, would love to see you try it out and see what you think

I just started my airbrushing a few days ago, with a brand new airbrush and an unadjustable compressor, and the paint was splattering. Tips? I wouldn’t mind more airbrushing techniques and guides in the future. Cheers.

splattering can also be caused by too little thinner. what colors are you using?

@@uq0de just black primer. I added a ratio of roughly 2 drops of thinner to 1 of primer. No clue what was causing it.

I’ve had nothing but trouble with my air brushes as a beginner 😢 and now I’m told the air compressor will soon fail ! The industry needs to up it’s game as far as beginners are concerned. I’m going to stick with the good old reliable paint brush. Not having a go at you Bob, we are all striving for nicely painted figures/ models. Sorry for the rant 😢

I've been modeling on and off for over 30 years, with over 50 models built. It takes time to learn the skill, not a magic airbrush. I'm still learning.

I have been painting for 25years using paint brushes. I treated myself to an Iwata neo with an Iwata compressor with no air container. I trusted a modelling supplier to give me an intro model. Nearly £200 with a few bits and pieces. Later I find out the airbrush isn’t made by Iwata! A friend had to put ptfe tape on air connection to try and get it to work properly. The supplier denied any knowledge of it being a poor choice of airbrush. Things didn’t go much better with a Badger 200 that my son bought me. At that stage I didn’t know anything about needle cap sizes. Eventually I had success with XF 60 paint as opposed to Vallejo (not air version) On reflection I should have got a Harder and Steinbeck evolution + compressor and air tank for no more than I paid in the first place. I’ve run out of interest and money. How did people ever get on before KZfaq came along? If the supplier had given me better information, I might be a happy painter now.😊
