I agreed with every thought that you've expressed in this forum . I myself was introduced to African movies in Brooklyn New York when I entered "semi-accidentally" an AFRICAN MOVIE STORE . I and my whole family have been addicted it since then . I hope you realized with your performance and story lines you are actually creating Classic African Works , launching the African history and folklore way to the future for generations to come with the help of this new media called Cinema . To Mr Kunle : " Hip , Hip Hip , Hooray !!! " To you Genevieve , I say " LONG LIVE OUR AFRICAN QUEEN !!! "

Genevieve stays queening...damn she so fine! Anyway lol, the lady @ 54:00 said exactly what my intention was - focus on product quality and investment (including from our own people) will follow. I mean if all our movies aesthetically looked like CEO or October 1, people will pay. But the biggest market (excluding animation/comics) is historical/period pieces i.e. game of thrones, gods of egypt. If we make an african version of those...omo forget we dey win.

My hat off to the two of you, you have both done very well in your respective areas. Especially Kunle Afolayon! What I do is buy Kunle's movie even if I have watched it for free, the reason been that I just want them to do very well. But there are too many bad Nigerians movies and this is one of the reasons for poor marketing. People with money don't want to spend it on rubbish!' And a larger percentage of the nollywood movies are really bad.

I utterly disagree with you. Nollywood is over 20 years old, at this point we should have moved past the stage of "waiting" for our gains or saying it would come to us. Plus I totally disagree with the part where she says "we have gotten enough attention from the govt". No we haven't. And I believe Genny and Kunle were pretty clear on responding. Like Genny said, what is "work, work, work" without money coming "back back back" Genny said give us more cinemas for the numbers we have so we can sell. How is that defensive :/
@abibodlogistics3 жыл бұрын
Genevieve Nnaji just say it the way it is and stop washing your dirty linen in the public, what is the meaning of Nollywood, hiss. I was born and raised in Nigeria until I quit when some bastards made a mess of it and all these time I did not hear anything called Nollywood. What brought about Nollywood is that Nigeria film industry want to sound American that Hollywood is their film industry headquarters and for those that does not know Hollywood is a place in California America, it is not just a name it is a location and that is where Nigeria movie industry coiled the name Nollywood from. Till this present time so many Nigerians did not know how that name Nollywood came to being. It is always very shameful that Nigeria will never be original, this is one of the reasons why I like Yomi Fash Lanso, I still remember some years back when he was interviewed when he said he doesn't know what they mean by Nollywood. There was even a time that a moron among them said that Nollywood has been in existence for long and I said liar liar pants on fire, that is not true it was a name that was formed by getting the name Hollywood which is the name of the movie industry headquarters in America twisted. It is a big shame, in this 21st century Nigeria as a country can not come up with a name for it's movie industry without having anything to do with that of America, it is a shame and a disgrace. You should all cover your face in shame.
