What people tend to forget that the Jin isn't a real Chinese dynasty also but a pure mix of Khitan/Jurchen and Chinese ancestry whereas their enemy to the south, the Song, were proper Han Chinese. The Jin also had a huge flaw that they're good at attacks whereas the Songs are better at defense thus the whole time they were battling Genghis, they were vying for control over the Song dynasty. Not only that, the Songs were more valiant in battles that almost all of their battle strategy consists of "last ditch defense" thus they're really not that afraid of going balls out just to stay alive. With that in mind, the Songs were really skilled in defense thus no matter how hard the Jin tried thinking they can pull the same trick when they knocked out the Songs to the south to make their kingdom on Song's land, they could not knock Southern Song out no matter how hard they tried. Then when the Mongols took 80% of Northern China, Genghis died and Odegai, his son, took the reins and continued trying to end the Jin once and for all but he faced a huge problem. Due to the Jin learning quite abit from their mistakes, they walled up in their cities now knowing that the Mongols had close to no way to enter fortified cities unless they scale it and sent men to their deaths as the Mongols are primarily cavalry based and with their warfare at the steppes were against other nomadic tribes which had no walled cities to attack, they haven't learnt siegeworks whatsoever and it was until they hit China proper that they learnt the requirement for it and with Genghis now dead, finishing his dreams of knocking out China was the most vital importance than to hold around and learn new tech thus Odegai just went ahead with it and got stuck essentially. This caused a huge dilemma with Odegai as he too soon realized that with them attacking both Western Xia and Jin plus the sheer lack of siegeworks to breach the city walls, they sent envoys to the Song and worked a deal out to become temporary allies in take the Jin out with the Song using their impressive siege techniques to breach the south of Jin whereas the Mongols would keep pushing the northern and central parts of Jin and batter the Jin into submission which both the Song and Mongols eventually did. This also had a catalystic event for later on as once the lands of Jin were split split between the Mongols and Song, both sides decided that they hated each others deal to how to divide the lands thus they kept having skirmishes with each other. Plus once Ogedai and Mongke died, Kublai took power and he instantly knew that the Southern Song was a "menace that needed to be gotten rid of" but also knew that the Songs were an even tougher nut to crack that their real good in both offensive and defensive attacks thus to prevent even more manpower loss, he had to learn everything the Jin had to offer which includes siegeworks which was vital. With that knowledge, Kublai did knock the Song out but by taking tons of technological warfare ideas from the Jin like building a navy (which the Mongols initially had zero idea on how to implement as they had no access to large water sources like rivers and even the sea) to blockade the Yangtze and building trebuchets and such to breach the Song city walls and ended the Song reins over the entirety of China and formed the Yuan Dynasty.

yup, the jin for centuries think the song are simply weaklings except for Yue Fei. so they think any loss they suffered from mongols they can get it back by looting the song. they clearly haven't studied 3 kingdoms. they should have allied with Song to fight mongols.

@josephho2836 temujin definitely took killing to a whole diff level ! The Roman's didn't constantly create pyramids of human heads or load up wagons with human ears as a quota after invading a country! The Roman's were in it for the long term they took slaves and had them work on projects in the empire and alot of those slaves were freed after 10 years or less and most got integrated into the empire ! You can't compare the two whatsoever! So yeah a bit murderous stands correct 👌

note: The "k" in Khan indicates an aspirated (blowing out air) "h" sound. It would sound closer to an "h" rather than a "k" in English. I cringe everytime someone pronounces his name as "genghis kaan" rather than "genghis han". Also, "Khan" is a title meaning ruler, but in this video the narrator refers to him as "Khan".
