Wow! you nailed this. I followed your steps and it worked perfectly. The instructions on the keypad are a little different and I tried them about a dozen times. I thought these have to be correct because it's factory instructions. Nope, reset, learn, program is the way to go. Thank you so much.

I was losing my mind! I kept following the instructions on the inside of the keypad cover, but it wasn't working. Your excellent video showed me 1) that I was doing everything I was supposed to do and 2) that I was pushing the buttons too slowly!!! The way you pushed 3-5-7 boom boom boom. THAT was my problem.

After 1:40 (hour) on hold, Genie had a solution, to reset the keypad I was told to hold down BOTH the ‘Program’ and ^\down button. Then proceed with keypad & these intructions. Thanks though Munchy!

Munchy, these are great directions. May I suggest one small edit? After you put the garage opener into program mode, you have only 30 seconds to get back to the keypad to use the 3-5-7 access code. I couldn't get this to work, but it worked great once I learned about the 30-second time limit.

Make sure the lights are out first then try again, took me 4-5 times as nothing was happening for me too.

EDIT: All good--it does this anytime you hit a button within 30 seconds...that's normal. ORIGINAL: Now my keypad opens the garage with any button. Oh no!
