Let's learn how to say like in Japanese in this lesson. You will learn like, don't like, liked, and didn't like. 好き(すき)Suki (like) is an adjective in Japanese, so you need to know how to conjugate adjectives to use "Suki." I will cover that in this lesson. 好き(すき)Suki can also mean "I love you" in Japanese in a certain context.
This is a sample lesson of a new online course: 日本語5Japanese 5,

I've heard the line, 「おまえのことすきです。」before, and I've always wondered about the word, おまえ. I understand it means, 'you' but when does one use it, and also, how common is it say?
@YukoSensei
@YukoSensei 5 жыл бұрын
おまえ is "you" that is used in Informal speech by a male. A man would call another man or woman おまえ when they are already very close to each other or the man just being rude and doesn't care his manner. Between men, calling each other おまえ is kind of OK if they are good friends but calling a woman おまえ can offend her, so be careful. None of my male friends call me おまえ just so you know. They call me by my name.

Sensei, is this grammatically correct. (Watashi wa) sushi ga sukida ga sashimi wa suki janai desu
@YukoSensei
@YukoSensei 5 жыл бұрын
DVさん、It is grammatically correct. However, combining "sukida" (Plain form) & GA and ending your sentence with "desu" sounds incompatible. Since "sukida GA" has serious and stiff sound attached, it is appropriate for writing a work report, academic paper, novel or writing a journal to oneself. However, it doesn't match with "desu" that has polite but more conversational tone. It sounds better with "KEDO" in this case. (watashi wa) sushi ga sukida KEDO, sashimi wa suki janai desu. If you want to use GA, then this sounds better. (watashi wa) sushi ga sukida GA, sashimi wa suki janai. Hope this helps!

5:19 Buut If you use 'ga' as an object particle, woudn't 'suki' then be a verb? I thought that the 'ga' there was the SUBJECT particle, as in 'sushi ga suki desu, sushi is like, sushi is likeable, i like sushi) May you use an adjective as a verb? What's the difference then? Why is it suki desu and not sukimasu? And may you use 'sushi wa suki desu' and the wa as the subject particle?
@MattAasen
@MattAasen 3 жыл бұрын
She says at the beginning of the video that "suki" is closer in meaning to "fond" than it is to "like," in that it's an adjective, not a verb. Also, sushi isn't the subject, it's the object - you are the subject.
