Respect for anyone who covers this (and the og singer), CN or not. The way you have to hold notes and raise your voice to such high pitches and lower them so seamlessly is quite amazing. Great job!

if you have experience in voice (aka professional singing) in some degree, and you're a soprano, then the original is easy to mimic. otherwise, it's difficult for just anyone.

DISCLAIMER: I am by all means, not a professional opera singer nor did I ever sing something in this style before. I listened to the original a millions times and when I have a song on my mind, I wanna get it out of the system by singing it! Atfer giving it a lot of thoughts and talking to some of my Chinese friends, I decided to make a version in my own style, in English. Not because I think that it was necessary but because I felt like I could express my feelings the best if I don't replicate the original. Genshin Impact is a game very dear to me and if there's a way for me to express that, I will do it. I have the highest respect for the original singer and I cherish Chinese culture a lot. ♥

As someone who understands Chinese, you seem to have mistook some verses. The first verse talked about lovers being torn apart by death, not them defying death. As for the "calamity descended and rituals subverted" part of the original song, it actually refers to the Chinese culture reference of people subverting actual rituals to perform evil ones I do love the cover, but the meaning of the song seems to have been misintepreted

@@owo4470 Hey! I based my lyrics of the English & German translation that was showed in the game and I think this is where the difference is coming from. My boyfriend is Chinese and he read over my lyrice and confirmed, that the international approach on the meaning of the lyrics is actually quite different but understandable! For the first part, I think you missunderstood! The souls were torn apart BY death, not the other way around! :)

All things considered, you can't directly translate all words from one language to another without some meaning being lost, that being said, you did a fine job trying to keep everything together. Great music overall

1:18 I LOVE how you oscillated that note so powerfully without losing steam! You say you're not a professional opera singer, but this is WONDERFUL! I myself am a professional singer, and am versed in Western operatic techniques. And I can confidently say you have fantastic control over your breath and intonation. I'm actually learning to sing the original Chinese since I studied the language for 4 years. This is a very faithful adaptation, I even noticed some of the word placement does sound a little like the original lyrics. Example, the line "shrouds and dust was all she found" at 1:24 feels very faithful to the original Chinese,《Zhūsī wǎngjié húnfān piāo》"Shrounds and" sounds like《sī》and even "found" rhymes with 《piāo》I am impressed at how you captured an heir of the beautiful Chinese language into English! Really the only criticism that I have is you didn't make use of the iconic line《Chàng yǔ⸺ zhūwèi⸺ tīng⸺!》at the end of the speaking part. That was a real missed opportunity. But overall, this is fantastic, keep singing and honing your skills, and btw the After Effects audio visualizer at the bottom is a great touch! You've got a new sub 👍

The lyrics are slightly different from the og (the og was a bit more poetic, melodic and subtle in telling the story, while eng lyrics are more direct and less melodic?) but this cover's really nice!! especially the middle part translating 唱予诸位听

I am blown away. I was thinking that no other cover would be able to create the same emotions that the CN version does, but you proved me wrong. Your voice is angelic and gorgeous, and you hit the emotional beats of the song perfectly in the same way Yun Jin's CN singer does. To be honest, when I scrolled down to see your video, I had doubts. But after listening to it, I was impressed! You've transferred the feel of the original work into the cover. Covering Beijing Opera songs into English is hard since the style is just so different, but I really think you've done a wonderful job on it. I enjoyed listening to your cover ^^
