Try a one man camping tent, set it up, open front, cut back wall out, roll generator inside, perfect ventilation, weight from generator holds tent down, easy to add fuel.

Thank You! This vid made the install of my Gen Tent very simple on my new Firman T07573 from Costco very simple. I had an earlier model (2018) Firman that would make my lights flicker when i used it but this new one is Excellent!!! I hope the gen tent mount closest to the muffler does not melt from the heat !!!

Thank you so much for the great review. Yes it a little expensive but in my particular case I was going to pour a concrete pad then buy a shed modify that shed in order to cut and install large intake vents, install a big exhaust fan and an generator exhaust vent port. The hours to do all that work would easily be 30 manhours and likely cost in the neighbor of $800-$900 U.S. for everything. The tent sells for $187.00 so comparatively it’s a bargain 👍

I had a bracket brake. I contacted Gentent for warranty. They immediately sent me a new 4 pack. So yeah- they do brake. Yes- Gentent did stand behind their product.

Check the instructions. The elastic straps should go back closer to the base. That will make that bracket less wobbly.

Thank you for the video Tim. Regarding the brackets, you should hook the elastic straps closer to the the frame where the bracket is solid, not out on the end that moves in and out. I believe the instructions tell you that also.

Great review Tim. Can you use the pull start with it on if needed? I have a friend I think would put this to use on his out of state hunting trips. I believe his genset is pull start only. Keep up the good work!

Hi Tim - I just picked up this generator and the GenTent based on your reviews. How did you get the GenTent mount to attach to the side with the exhaust? It doesn’t seem like there’s enough room with the exhaust portion so close to the bars to get that mount in

Good question I should do an update video with it I had to take the exhaust cover offf out the bracket back on and then reattch the cover it worked then

@@TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP awesome! I’ll give that a try. Thank you. I seriously almost returned it cause of that. Not sure if it’s needed but I did wrap some exhaust grade reflective heat tape on the plastic mount on that side so it doesn’t warp or melt. And couldn’t agree with you more on wishing they had better quality mounts! They feel flimsy.

What about invertor rv generators that dont have the exposed frames to put the clamps on?? Or are they made only for open frame gens???

I have a 3000 invert gen from harbour FRIEGHT I’m gonna take a look and see but I don’t think it will fit properly

What is the issue with leaving this installed outside on the generator all year if the generator is sitting on a concrete slab? I can't see any issue with it unless the tent is not very uv resistant. One of the main reasons I purchased this was to save space in the garage. I can get away with running the generator at the edge of my garage with all doors and windows open and the exhaust facing outwards using a carbon monoxide detector in the area which has never read over zero.

It has a one year warranty that covers uv protection I don’t think I’d want to leave that out longer than I woudl have to with long term exposure to the sun

I never tested it with that on. Looks like I’ll need to get the decibel meter out and do a follow up video down the road. I am thinking it probably doesn’t help a lot though because the exhaust area is completely uncovered

Nope, too flimsy with the plastic frame and fasteners. I'm sure I have enough materials lying around to cobble together something very similar but much stronger and dependable.

Go to Walmart. To the camping aisle. Look for the kiddie tents. They are cheap. The kind for in door camping. Might have a unicorn or a dragon on it but for the price well worth it. They use the typical flex rod to each corner self standing design.cut the bottom out. After putting it together. Now plop over genset. TA-DA! Stake it to ground. One cheap rain cover. We have the green turtle version. $159.00 is legal robbery for the generator tent.

I mean if you are cool with that great, I agree the Gentent is seriously high priced but it does have features that make it 100 times better than a kitty tent, like heat resistance material, a see through window to see controls an opening to fill up gas and wind, and snow load ratings. Does it justify the price tag well that depends on whos spending the money.

This is a vastly stupid comparison; a child tent, or any tent for that matter, is not waterproof. They won’t last in cold weather, or hold up to wind.

I noticed that if you select the Extreme version of the cover, they add "USA Manufacturing" to the description (on the Amazon site.) It adds $30 to the cost over Standard, and $15 over Plus.
