This bike was tearing up the race tracks during the '50's especially the Isle of Mann with Mike Hailwood.

This is Ray Breingans Sid Mularney 500 Manx being run up after a long lay up. Ray raced it over the Isle of Man for a few years,originally a 350 cc then a 500 engine was fitted. It was worked on by all the famous tuners apart from Sid Mularney including Ralph Seymour,Ray Petty,Phil Kettle and John Tickle,who repaired the lower frame lug. Even Francis Beart retightened the front fork in the pits at Brands. In its later years it was raced by top club rider Brian Bartlett who took it to many club race victories at Brands etc,it even shared the grid at Brands with Agostini on his 350 MV. at one meeting. Ray Breingan worked for Sid Mularney and then returned to New Zealand where he manufactured Featherbed "Lowboy "frames. The front brake was a temporary fix whilst its original brake was being repaired,it still has a Joe Dunphy sticker on it .

As a younger man I'd have ridden that thing 9\10's around a nice smooth wide racetrack... Isle of Man stuff? ~ Er, no, my lobotomy was 20 years ago and I'm no longer that capable... Point is I'd not been that capable then, still do 7\10's now tho, a nice wide flat racetrack...

It might be a genuine Manx, but it has many mods from standard!
