I can actually see that, this direct was made for the smaller guys, so for those who aren't fans of those smaller franchises, this direct probably didn't have much. For people like me though, this direct meant the world.

objectively wrong Mario and Luigi RPG was something because Alphadream got bankrupt so no one thought it would be brought back so obviously its a big deal but there is some aswell Mario party was cool ig but Luigi Mansion and Donkey Kong Country Remakes are big since these franchise has been left in the dust Zelda being the protag in a Zelda game is also a switch up no one expects, so its pretty big when link, the chosen hero is NOT the hero in the games Ace attorney investigation collection is also big because investigation 2 is actually getting localized, after being STUCK IN JAPAN FOR 13 YEARS Then theres finally metroid prime 4 beyond, a new metroid game in the series after 16-17 YEARS, although revealed in 2017 we havent gotten news since then theres also a new danganronpa like game, so the fans would eat it up lol, they made a solid game that wasnt danganronpa before so it surely be something so saying no big games in this direct is just wrong and a huge understatement even if you arent keen in the franchises

​​@@varxonstuff3152 The Marvel vs. Capcom compilation was actually a pretty big deal as well. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 hadn't been adapted in a long while I believe, so it was a great treat for fans.

Every time a direct gets more attention than normal, people who never watch them normally complain about them. People complained the TotK trailer direct was bad even though every direct is full of meh games along with a few good ones. They just weren't used to seeing directs.

Story-wise it's just as good, but the writing is quite frustrating imo. The Investigation games were the first AA games not written by Shu Takumi, and it shows.
