These videos highlight the skill everyone involved with railways in NZ has to have. Whilst the scenery is spectacular, it highlights the brilliance of the early engineers who built the line, and the terrain and narrow clearances in places highlights the importance of the track being maintained to a very high standard, as well as the vigilance and train handling skills required by the crews. Kudos to all at KiwiRail who do their utmost day in day out, in sometimes extraordinary circumstances, and help maintain NZ's extraordinarily good safety record.

Perserverance Road, on the right at 21:43, signpost just visible. Took a while to find, but pretty certain from matching street view to the house between the rail and the main road and the trees on the other side. Thanks Geoff!

Train started on the west coast of the South Island of NZ, and terminated on the east side of the South Island of NZ. Lyttleton is the port for Christchurch, NZ's third largest city.
