@@Pappa_66 Thank you Jari. I don't think I'll be able to go over due to my health issues, but I've always enjoyed about everything I came in touch with from Finland. The Russian guy that died in the Sauna competition in 2010 used disallowed drugs which were not allowed in the competition exactly because of the risks. However, the lifeloss was considered poor enough advertising for the company that organized the competition that the competition hasn't since done again. It was organized yearly between 1999 and 2010.

Loved the post!! One thing that was missed was how successful the Finnish are in motorsport, both in Formula 1 ( 3 Champions)and the World Rally Championship (8 Champions). There is a saying in motorsport, if you want to win, employ a Fin...(as you might of guessed, I like my motorsport). Keep the posts coming🏁😃

0:32 In Finland's history between years 1899-2023, there hava been 372 men and 10 woman named as Finn. There is/or have been under 19 people who's lastname is Finn.

Sadly, Norway couldn't give the tip of the mountain to Finland because of existing legislation in Norway. And making changes to the legislation simply to slighly move the border wasn't considered worth the effort.

Did you know that Finland has been crowned the happiest country in the world for the sixth time in a row by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Of course, you can always argue about how you can define happiness, but it's still a pretty great achievement.

The compulsory military service is not that compulsory, but as latest events have shown, it's needed. In planetary scale almost no one speaks Finnish and the language is deeded as rare as... Finnish language.

Welcome to the world of knowledge :) We at northern part of globe welcome you to our secrets of wonderful life...unless you come to Finland....then you need to REALLY be my friend before i tell anything....or even speak. But when i do i will tell you the secret....in sauna....naked.... :) Welcome to the "dark" side of the nordic where everything might seem to be "darker" but eventually you will find out that sunlight is not the only light in this universe :)

There's always the possibility to represent the US in the Wife Carrying World Championship like this couple did: "WIFE CARRYING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (we represented the U.S.A.)". The North American Wife Carrying Championship were held for the first in the year 1999, so the tradition of stealing women from the neighboring villages is live and taking over the world.

No small talk, but specially here in Eastern Finland, if youmake comment like "How do you do?" you might get like answer where person tells all the ups and downs thry (Finnish language is gender neutral so no chosen pronouns for us etc) have as saying goes "When you ask question to savonian, answer is our responspalitty..."

Finland cannot have post soviet buildings, cuz Finland was never a part of Soviet union, never under communism and never an eastern bloc country. Also there are no huge differences between Scandinavia and Finland. Scandinavia means Nordic in many languages and Finland 🇫🇮is a Nordic country with Sweden 🇸🇪 Norway 🇸🇯 Denmark 🇩🇰 and Iceland 🇮🇸 Finland is a Nordic country politically, geographically, economically, culturally and religiously.

Apparently there are areas of Finland that have more Vietnamese speakers than Finnish speakers. This is because there are quite a few Vietnamese in the country, but they are usually found in Swedish speaking parts of the country.

1. Pretty much no one named Finn, as there's no F in our language (apart from loanwords). Finland is a foreign name for our country. 2. Video missed our origins. We're not Scandinavian or Norse, but ethnically and linguistically Finnic and part of the greater Finno-Ugric/Uralic family. This means our closest relatives are other Finnic people like Estonians, Volga-Finns like Mari, Erzya and Moksha in the Volga region of Russia and most distantly to nomadic Samoyeds in the Russian tundra. In fact, English is a very close relative of Swedish, while neither is even remotely related to Finnish. Hindi, Persian and Armenian are related to English and Swedish, but Finnish isn't.
