When Rice Gallery staffers needed different shades of dirt for an upcoming installation they turned to Rice geologist Cin-Ty Lee. He told them of various locations unsure of how they were using the soil. Months later it was only fitting for him to give a professor's perspective talk on the installation painted using Texas dirt.
Rice Gallery's 'yamatane' by Yusuke Asai is on display until Nov. 23, 2014.
