Memorizing your lines is only the very beginning to getting good. The memorization is basically ~nothing~. If you compliment a comedian's or actor's memorization, that's practically an insult. Anyone can memorize a bunch of anything given a small time/practice investment. It's George's talent for writing, creating, and performing socially inciteful and challenging ideas that made him THE MAN.

I'm not even remotely kidding but George Carlin is why I'm an atheist. He made more sense with his analysis of religion than anyone else ever has to me. I grew up in a non-church family and was told by my mom that I could just make up my own mind on it. Listening to George through my formative years was all I needed to hear.
@defenderoftheweak8989
@defenderoftheweak8989 Жыл бұрын
@@matthewfifer6885 George Carlin was an angry and bitter man that got angrier as he aged. He died too young and ultimately miserable. He's your influence? How sad. But let me ask you something: Where did everything come from? It's a scientific reality that something cannot come from nothing. For every effect there is a cause; therefore there must be a First Cause that always was. This is sound logic. Now there is also the problem of evil (and good). If there is no God, why is there evil? And how did we come to know it as evil? If there is no God, the only sane way to live would be to get what I could out of this world at any cost. Nothing would be evil. Survival of the fittest. There is much more to be said, but the bottom line is YOU KNOW THERE IS A GOD! You can see God in creation. Your own conscience testifies against you because of your sin. Last, Christ came to save those who trust in Him, and Him alone for their righteousness, from sin and death. He did not come to save those who think they are good enough, but those who know they're not. Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) PROVED he is God by rising from the dead by his own power. He lived the perfect life that we couldn't live, then took the punishment our sin deserves, that we could never pay. He did this to conquer sin and death to anyone who recognizes they are sinners in need of a Savior, confesses this, and asks Jesus to come into their hearts. My friend, you are a sinner (and you know it) that is in need of a Savior. There is only one mediator between God and man; the man Jesus Christ. Turn to Him!!!

@@matthewfifer6885 His analysis of what was obviously Christianity wasnt well thought at all. The bible speaks of all the things he mentioned and warns against them. Then again, hes never read the bible or his jokes would have a more specificity to them, at the very least an accuracy. He was born and raised in the city where the likelihood of finding a real church is 0. Jesus's message for the new testament was to lead with love,not judgement. Jesus flipped the tables when men made trinkets/symbolized images of god for monetary gain. He says to abandon the law of man (Old Testament, stoning whores etc) and to follow the law of god that hes spoken to you. A lot of catholics and jewish arent happy about this take, but I used to keep 14 scriptures on hand, that within context support exactly what ive said above. Then again, praying at home, instead of giving "tide" while begging a man for forgiveness would put alot of these Mafia/Perversions of the bible out of business.

"I like a comedian that speaks his opinion" means they don't agree with his opinion, likely uncomfortable by it, and are clearly still religious believers. Trust me, I grew up +20 years in Christian Churches. That bandaid, instilled in me at birth, is a hard one to completely rip-off. Especially in the U.S., where (even with our growing irreligious numbers) telling people you're an Atheist is a big taboo.

George does those little "raps" or "beat poems" in his comedy so much. Sometimes just a couple of lines, sometimes it's a whole ass poem. Guy was obsessed with language and wordplay. He was half comedian and half beat poet. He obsessed over getting the joke and the punchline right, but he also obsessed over getting the rhythm of every joke and story right. He really performed his acts like he was up their doing songs. Not just the words, but the rhythm had to be right. A lot of people get up there and tell jokes, or make funny faces, or do physical comedy with their bodies, but it's a rare comedian who is as smart as George was, and nobody, NOBODY, has ever really had the same "comedy poetry" style that George did so well. RIP to one of the GOATs.

@@Mr.v No. It did. Just in a much more predecessor discovering its own weaponry and strengths kind of way before it took flight which it was already flying in the clouds hidden. The creation of the devices that makes propaganda easier to spread was where it all really started the path for this. But as soon as colour TV came into the picture, it made its mark the moment it hit. So I'd argue that back then and now are one in the same, but with more money in the mix and now its in plain sight no longer hidden(hence what George came up and about for was that he made people see it back then), but the average person nowadays is trained to ignore what they can see. In almost about the same way people do when there's a homeless person on the roadside. Thats why its still the same. But the people aren't. System has always been system. It grinds corrupts, convinces and derails leaving loopholes for people to fall down into the depths of despair and come out with only negativity to offer cos they didn't push the pain out in the right way. So more accurately, the people, are far far and beyond in comparison to those back in the day. Cos now its like the blind leading the blind and not like before where there were few leaders with purpose in their words, and truth. Now everything is subjective, not objective. Or, is disallowed from being said one way because it doesn't comply with the other side of shitty laws.

He respected the right of choice and was a champion of questions. Don’t blindly follow, don’t chicken shit the things you claim to be convicted to and certainly don’t fold if someone generalizes what you agree with then they make it something more dangerous. Ask questions, especially to those of any discerning power and accept the fact that times change and therefore those around you can do the same!

With my comment on your other video with George I did not know you watched this already. I stated that George got sharper the older he got and this was a great example of it. Very rare to see. His views on life itself made his comedy so great. Also in the movie Dogma he plays a cardinal of the catholic church. Super funny when you know his stance on religion.

Same “bit” is the word you’re looking for. Also please react to some Corey Holcomb. Dude has some hilarious bits himself. You wont regret it.

I’m a huge comedian fan and my favorite is Norm Macdonald. Start with his 12 minute joke.

You should listen to the full bit on religion that he started going into at the end here. He elaborates much further on it and it's one of his best bits ever.

I cant help but notice yo, your little Zen intro and everything, you guys are like brothers straight up. Like, through the generations, over lifetimes brothers. You literally remind me of Wu-Tang, or something of that ilk. Explore that theme, my recommendation.
