Yeah I agree. Dude's sharp. But what's more amazing than that is how he can have the whole audience clapping in approval at what he says. I remember when he did his religion bit and the whole audience clapped and whistled and laughed. But statistically there's no way that among that many people a greater percentage of them weren't religious. It was people who went to see Carlin. They were probably less religious than the greater population. But still, this is America. They probably got home and wondered why the hell they would clap at that.

I have now read 3 of his books. The best comedy book was Napalm…also his biography written I his voice with help of a co-author. I think all the other guy did was to organize his thoughts. This book takes you through his life from birth to the 90s. I’m just about to start his Daughter, Kelly Carlin-McCall. Now I’m rewatching his great HBO specials. This was one of his favorites. I can see why. Just great - the early iteration of his true personality. Love it!

I was 2 when this came out. Somehow watching this at 32 takes me back to the early 90s, a time period I was too young to appreciate but grew up in. Carlin took everyday things that still hold up, while also taking things that were so far beyond the time. He espouses truth and humanity which is why he could hit in such political social controversy. He talked to you on a human level and then said look up, you think this shit is weird look at EVERYTHING else

the first half of this comedy set was all comedy and jokes. the second half is philosophical and exploits partial truths of the reality. and thats why we laugh but he's actually serious in his tone in the second half. especially the last 5 minutes!!!!
