Yeah, I saw one reactor who ended the song with a huge smile on his face and said "Well, he found someone else so he stopped loving her. Isn't that great?" I groaned a little at how dense he was. I guess because the song didn't hit him up side the head with a two by four he missed EVERY clue that the man died and the fact that he stopped loving her because he died was the whole point of the song. It's no wonder some people hate country music. They just flat don't get it. They want to be-bop to a beat and country songs are not about the beat...or even the melody or the harmony. They are about the stories and if you miss the story you miss the song...period.

My sister came to visit me with her husband from Germany. On the way back from Dallas to were we lived this song came on. She didn't understood English, but she broke out crying hearing his voice the first time. She had me translate the song and she sobbed and sobbed. Before they returned to Germany she bought several C/W music songs, specially this one. She also liked George Strait and Allan Jackson and several more artists. A few years later my sister died a horrible death. Cancer ate up her body and she was in horrible pain. She died screaming, but my brother-in-law told me that she died playing George Jones song. He doctor came to her house and gave her injections of a very strong pain medication. Her illness was to far gone in her and her doctor couldn't stand the agony she suffered any longer. When she begged for another shot he gave her her last one. He knew her heart couldn't handle that very strong pain medication. He released her from her suffering. My brother-in-law told me that she had George Jones playing with this song as she was dying. I flew home for her funeral. My sister was a much liked person in that Village were she lived. She was always kind to everybody. The whole Village including her doctor attended her funeral. Her doctor was crying and tried to explain to me what happen. I thanked him for his kindness releasing my sister from her unbearable suffering. In America I was waiting for my passport. My old one had expired. I was a nervous wreck not knowing if I get it in time to attend her funeral. The same day I was waiting for my passport, my beloved German Shepherd had to be taken to the Veterinarian. She could not walk anymore without help. She had gotten a giant growth in her belly. I actually thought that she got herself pregnant. I was at work waiting to hear from the post office about my passport when the phone rang. It was the Veterinarian telling me my beloved pet had to be put down. My dog had cancer in the 4th state and could not be saved. The Vet told me she was suffering very bad. I could not go and hold my dog while they put her to sleep. She died without me holding her. I felled like a Zombie and could barely function. Finally the Post office brought me my passport. I just made it to Germany. My sister was already death for 3 days. They could no longer wait, they had to bury her. I never shed one tear at her funeral. Her whole grave was covered in flowers. My brother-in-law said had I giving her one flower a day there would be so much room left to cover her grave. He had rented a hall and after the funeral everybody went there. There were very long tables put together to seat everybody. When a waitress asked me what I wanted from the menu, I broke down. I sobbed and sobbed for my sister and my beloved dog who had to die without me holding him. Before long everybody was crying. It became the most emotional day of my life. Of course no one knew I was also grieving for my dog. After I returned to the States, my husband had buried her in a beautiful box on our land under a tree. Foe weeks I got up every night because I thought I heard my dog barking. I laid a ball on her grave and told her to play with it when she got lonely Shortly after that I didn't hear her calling me with her barking. That was one of my saddest month in my life.

Next time you are in a quiet bar order a nice shot of Wild Turkey with a beer chaser and maybe light up a cigarette and just feel that emotion of some great Traditional Country sung by the one and only George Jones! You know they don't make guys loyal like the guy in this song. Those men who graduated high school at 18 were married with families by age 20 and worked their fingers to the bones in factories and shops for 35 or more years raised kids. If it failed they stayed loyal till the bitter end. Hats off to the old school real men.

@@stevedaulton9655 Really? Then make sure you report them to the Health Department. Newsflash: EVERY SINGLE STATE has at least one law banning smoking indoors. That includes bars, restaurants, stores, malls, etc. Every single state. If you know where they’re doing that, report them. I’m an RN, but I’m also super sensitive to tobacco smoke. It actually makes me sick. I know there are many like this. Unfortunately, if you smoke indoors, a large amount of smoke goes outdoors. Aside from putting those INSIDE the bar in jeopardy. Seriously. My son-in-law is immune compromised. Cigarette/tobacco smoke makes him very ill. These days, people who willfully ignore LAWS like this are selfish. Yes. Selfish. Not thinking of what second-hand smoke can do to those around you. A dear friend died recently. She had lung cancer. She never smoked. She and her doctor figured out it was exposure to second-hand smoke. Nevertheless, the world lost a bright light like MSS because of the selfishness of others.

@@drieuxkoeppel8152 You are way off topic. My reply was regarding classic country and the experience of having an old school shot and beer along with a smoke - something very commonplace in the past while listening intensely at old school country for the author who is not from the US. Just hoping he might enjoy that experience of really getting into that mode. You trying to cancel or push me off over something that is way out of the scope of this topic is rude and you should go piss on someone else's shoes. If you don't wanna smoke don't smoke if you don't want to go to places that are non smoking go there but don't tell me what to do. I am not reporting anyplace in my town that is allowed by the local government to allow smoking.

I woke up at 2:07am, and watched you do this reaction to one of my favorite people of All times. His voice is wonderful and the songs he sings,is always telling you a story. This is one of his best, I haven't heard it in awhile. Thank you so very much for understanding this beautiful song. Life doesn't always have a happy ending.

Possibly the best country music song in history. George IS THE MAN! BB King sang a song, nobody loves me but my mother, and she could be jivin too. Can't get much sadder than THAT!

For every single nuance of being in or out of love, there is probably a country song that covers it. This cannot be said about any other form of music in the world.

Really good review. I mean, the song won't crush you by itself, then George's voice just penetrates your whole being.

One misunderstood thing about county music is it makes you sad. Wrong. It makes you feel.

Good morning man cries it's gorgeous because it shows they have a lot of heart and a lot of feeling inside you can never be too hard when it comes time to lose someone you know it's all going to come down there's nothing wrong with a man that cries them are good men because they don't cover up their feelings
