My #1 favorite country singer. When my daughter was a tiny baby and she'd wake up in the middle of the night, I'd give her a bottle of milk, and rock her in my arms in the rocking chair and we'd listen to George Jones!

A lot of the old country greats could sing a drinking song, but none sang them like George. That's because he lived it every day for much of his life. It was autobiographical. It makes me think back to that story of him on the riding lawn mower. Too bad he had to go (die, I mean - not to the liquor store on the mower). Willie's the only one left.

when my grandmother died and then my grandpa , my best friend my dog died i went through very rough times with Alcohol because i felt like there was nothing that could help me and felt my life was falling about day by day then i listened to George Jones and it helped a ton then i guess god and Jesus knew that the way i was heading was not good and gave me hope with a dream saying they are in a better place now don't be sad it's gonna be alright but only if you try and give up. a dream i will never forget.

I pretty much had a similar experience. My wife died Christmas day 2015 at the age of 45. I was there too and although part of me died with her I listened to this song and saw myself and where I was going. I struggled and am slowly healing.

Hearing songs like I saw the light, Cold cold heart, I'm so lonesome can just capture time and feeling when Ol hank sings those songs. Such a shame he was only 29. Yes, We lost one of the great Country Artist when George Jones passed. We still have some left. Ray Price, Hank Thompson, Mickey Gilley, Glen Campbell, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Gene Watson, Bobby Bare. That just names a few. The George Jones song Who's Gonna Fill there Shoes comes to mind when I think of all the ones that are left today.
