PLUS, lest we forget, Peltz's partner in this campaign is Jay Rasulo, who fixed EuroDisney / Disneyland Paris, then fixed California Adventure, then was promoted to head of the parks where we got New Fantasyland and Toy Story Land, THEN Iger promoted him to CFO, THEN he was on the short list to be Iger's successor...then Iger got a "No one but me" ego.

@@Get-me-out-of-Gacha-hell honestly I agree. If Lucas never sold Star Wars, then yeah people would still love to mock him & say that his ideas for a Sequel trilogy is garbage. I think the poor writing from the Disney sequels made people realize that we had a good back then. Same thing goes for other franchises. Like for example with the Hobbit movies. People back then kept on saying they were “bad movies” but that’s not true at all. Then the rings of power came out and now people realize “yeah we were overcritical back then”. My point is that now we know what bad writing actually looks like. Fallout 4 Kellogg: “The thing about happiness is that, you only know when you had it when it’s gone”. I think this quote perfectly describes our situation.

Looks like a business statement. Star Wars brings business and Disney still provides revenue for star wars because regardless if their material is bad now, the fans STILL spend money on it. If I was George I would do the same, why burn bridges. It would be income suicide to speak bad of something you literally are invested in for an income. That’s income helps him do projects like that library he is building

Then you'd be just as morally bankrupt as George Lucas. Lucas is not short on money - he is one of the richest people in the world. He could have sold off his stock quietly over the years - or he could simply have stayed quiet over this activist investor drama, and we would have been none the wiser about his true values.

George has probably worked on moving on, but still is heavily invested in Disneys success as a huge shareholder. Some of the fanbase is wrong for freaking out on Georgia over this comment. His support for Disney overall as a company, given his invested interest, doesn’t necessarily mean he endorses what happened with his Star Wars legacy.

George Lucas graduated from USC with a bachelors in Fine Arts in filmmaking, in addition to being a friend / peer of Spielberg and Scorsese (not to mention many more influential filmmakers). He already had a hit film with American Graffiti, before Star Wars. In what way was he an amateur? I think fan boys forget their history.

I think people put more weight on Lucas' terminology and statements than lucas himself does. Selling his baby to "white slavers" is in reference to him selling a brand that was its own thing to a large corporation.

Disney pushing back against the activists means "Activist investors", which are quite different. An activist investor actively participates in board decisions that will earn money, opposite social activism, which is what you are thinking of.

The fact that he hasn't sold his shares given how they devalued every major IP they have whether originated or bought from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, even Mickey Mouse doesn't have the draw as he used to. Plus Disney shares have dropped significantly in the years following Rise of Skywalker and have only decreased since.

"Activists" refers to Nelson Peltz, not people hired by the company. The article is really biased, because Peltz and others are trying to save Disney. Calling them activists and "corporate raiders" is just throwing loaded terms at them to malign their efforts in a biased way.

I’m not concerned. Lucas has made an amazing world and some of the best movies I’ve ever seen. He’s given enough details to show he’s not impressed with what they’ve done with Star Wars, however the guy has a fortune tied up in Disney. He has younger children. Star Wars Theory, you're missing the point. Lucas by throwing his support for Iger and the board at Disney with his stock options, he will stop Nelson Peltz from gaining seats on the board. Nelson Peltz wants Disney to start making money again for investors and to stop making these WOKE driven movies and streaming shows that have destroyed the cannon of not only Star Wars, but other properties like Marvel, and Willow. Peltz if he got on the board and controlled enough stock, he could have thrown Iger and that Board out of the company and put in responsible people who could have made positive changes in the course of the company. Nelson Peltz was the only hope for the future of Disney, because Disney is no longer a for profit company, they are being controlled and run by WOKE activists who care more about social engineering than producing quality shows. Lucas has ruined any chance for this company to be turned around, and if you do not see it, then I am sorry because this is more than about business or stock options. It was a chance to cleanse this company of these activists. Star Wars will never be back as long as Iger and this board run the show. Lucas has made that reality final with his support.

I know this isn’t the right audience to say this to, and my replies will be filled with angry fans, but I have liked what Disney has been putting out recently. They did set the bar extremely low with Ep 7-9. but man I loved Ahsoka, and I enjoyed Mando, TBOBF, and Kenobi. There are small details in each show that don’t add up but it’s not enough to make them bad. I know some of the choices for directors and writers have been questionable but man these past shows have been good. I’m so excited for Acolyte, too. I know Disney is too egotistical to correct their wrongs with the last trilogy, and that blows. They’re not doing great with SW but they’re not doing horrible.

George Lucas is rich beyond the dreams of avarice. I dind't necessarily expect him to openly speak out against Disney and Bob Iger, but all he had to do was stay silent and allow the situation to unfold. I take this as unequivocal evidence that George values his stocks above the one thing that the world will remember him for, for generations: the creation of a modern pop culture mythology. They need to stop calling it "Disney Star Wars" and start calling it what it truly is: "Lucasfilm Star Wars".

So. As a mentally stable Star Wars fan who happens to dislike the sequels, where do we go from here? Because clearly Disney is going to keep Star Wars. The best we can hope for is for them to fix the sequels like how the Clone Wars fixed the prequels. Can they pull that off? Who knows, but between Bad Batch and Andor Disney has proved the right people can do Star Wars justice...and in Andor's case even be political. We gotta pin our hopes on that Disney gets their act together and gets those right people. If a show is bad then keep your criticisms strictly to the story telling and production aspects. Don't give Disney ammunition because if there's one thing the Acolyte trailer proved it's that we do indeed have racist and misogynistic fans. If they continue to fail...then buy Legends stories. I know many of you haven't had the joy of experiencing that timeline yet. At the end of the day Disney cares about money over any political messaging. Show them where they can find that money by supporting Bad Batch, Andor, Legends, the Old Republic MMO, etc. And never be discouraged. It took Star Trek twenty years to recover from its own Rise of Skywalker moment. It took DC years to fix Hal Jordan. But most importantly of all, NEVER stop being a Star Wars fan.

The only way to fix the sequels is by adding context to everything before they even happened. The sequels gave no context to where the first order came from, where palpatine came from, why Luke skywalker is so defeated and would result to sneaking into his nephew’s home and probe his mind (they showed a minute flashback which fans heavily misinterpreted), etc.

I doubt this is the direction they'll go, but they need to retcon Hemlock from Bad Batch into Snoke. Make him responsible for pulling Palpatine's soul out of the nether after his death at Endor. The First Order's existence was already explained as the top Imperial commanders fleeing to the Unknown Regions after the Battle of Jaku. Give Luke a wife and a kid, and they both leave him out of fear of what Ben will become, leading to that flashback scene. Maybe Luke saw a future where Ben kills them. Also you have another full blooded Skywalker that Rey can be a big sister to. We can work this stuff out. The question is can Disney?

Lucas sold star wars to Disney because he wanted it to last over 100 years.. I still think it is the best bet to an extent.. the parks, Walt’s vision, etc.. But LUCASFILM should have more control AKA Dave Filoni, the apprentice of Lucas.
