George Mason University today unveiled a completely redesigned logo as the capstone of its two-year-long, comprehensive rebrand. The new look, which will include a single logo for the university and its athletics program, asserts George Mason’s emerging identity as a national top 50 public university and Virginia’s top-ranked university for innovation and upward mobility, as well as the commonwealth’s largest and most diverse university.

"Having every alumni involved, having the community involved." The logo is universally hated. Nobody in the community was involved.

I have been working as a brand designer for more than thirty years, and I strongly believe that this new direction is terrible. Previously, you wanted to be known as Mason and not GMU to avoid any confusion with JMU. If you go with GM, GW is always to consider, and General Motors already has solid brand recognition.
