Honestly inspiring to see the UK stand up against neoliberalism. I still hold out hope for us across the pond...

Back before the wikileaks reveals, when the Guardian was still a worthwhile paper, I used to have massive respect for Monbiot, then I met him. The idea that swapping fptp for PR would be a benefit to the country is only held by people who haven't given it much thought. Monbiot laments the 'injection molded' candidates that the parties produce while arguing for a further entrenchment of the party political system. He is sadly a product of the public school education system, brimming with confidence in his opinions but not particularly bright. Still... well done for kicking out the Tories.

Most inspiring. Reminds me of how to eat an elephant, one mouthful at a time.

I think the conclusion of the talk is the implementation of a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The question is how to implement direct participative democracy? Perhaps it may be worth somebody to write an oped on previous examples, such as the Porto Alegre experience.

The billionaire bogey men only account for $14tn. Compare with the value of all quoted companies $100tn about 50% of which has a very diverse ownership.

That's great, I can't find anywhere that has a nice breakdown like that, it'd even better if you had displayed the other main parties like that too. I worry if we had had a higher turnout, (only 60% of us seem at all politicised enough to vote, which is a record new low I believe) then reform might have got a higher share of votes (which still doesn't necessarily translate into seats).
