I think back in the 1950's when he was so popular the actors then became more typecast because television was still so young and they didn't really have much to move on too. Today it is different and one who is so popular in a series can become sort of typecast but not for long they go to other venues. Tom Selleck is a good example. Magnum to movies etc and Blue Bloods. Dean Cain moved on from Superboy, Michael Landon from Little Joe, Pernell Roberts from Adam, Robert Conrad from James West, Robert Horton from Flint, Farrah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels, and so on. Back then not so many shows and gosh George Reeves had it hard to transition. Too bad he didn't live now and could have gone on to many things.

George Reeves lived a very odd life. He had an affair with a married woman he had no future with. He didn’t have children and Hollywood took his career away from him and the press ruined his identity by always calling him Superman in the newspapers. George Reeves had fun playing Superman but Hollywood made his life difficult because of it. That’s a lot of weight for the poor guy to carry. I wish he stuck around to see all the out pouring of love that came his way after his passing. Little did he know Superman and superhero projects were the future for entertainment popularity. If only he’d known 😢

@@JG1570 George did have a small part in 'Gone with the Wind' but George was murdered. He was NOT Saved, it would seem, for his spirit still haunts his upstairs bedroom... where his body was found. Also his dog was stolen just before he was killed. I think somebody didn’t want that dog barking when they were sneaking around George’s house

I've always maintained that Reeves and his girlfriend, Lenore Lemmon got into a heated argument and that she accidentally shot him. I read that Lemmon left California the day after Reeves died. Kind of odd when considering that the couple were to be married in a few weeks before Reeve's death. She didn't even stick around for the funeral.
