This Title Match Network exclusive is from our George South Documentary, produced during Wrestlecade Weekend several years back.
Known as Ric Flair's favorite opponent for television, here is wrestling journeyman George South. Back in the 1980s on NWA TV, South wrestled Ricky and Robert countless times. This trend continues to present day as George South and Ricky Morton still regularly headline promotions across the country.
At one point in time, many wrestlers say that the Rock 'n' Roll Express pop was just as big as Hulk Hogan or the Road Warriors. Ricky Morton was the ultimate teen heartthrob for the women who enjoyed NWA Wrestling.
We also talk about George's time with Bill Eadie aka Ax of Demolition, Masked Superstar & Bepo Mongol. Eadie is another 40+ year wrestling star who still does autograph signings and occasionally wrestles to this day.
Finally, South brings up his time with Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant. Valiant's career is actually longer than any other wrestler mentioned. As part of the Valiant brothers, Jimmy held WWWF tag team gold and was a mainstay in NWA as well. At 70+ years of age (at the time of this interview) Jimmy still works every weekend.
Now that we've been dropping these never-before-seen interview segments from George South, watch how many other channels follow suit.
Enjoy all the best Wrestling Shoot Interviews here on Title Match Network.

From Wikipedia: On June 1, 1985 he received his first ever match (non-title) with then NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. He would become Ric Flair's favorite journeyman to wrestle as Flair considered him a great worker.

I remember George South quite well from his TBS days, but never heard him do a promo. And now I feel cheated. The guy is such an engaging talker and personality, how many great feuds and rivalries did we miss out on?

No one has ever said any different during any shoot interview. Not to mention a lot of stars from the 80's sent their kids to George South's wrestling school like Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson.

No kidding he really does seem like such a great genuine person! Especially in a business that’s full of guys that are self centered with huge egos. George isn’t any of that, and doesn’t seem the least bit jaded from being in the business for 40yrs. A lot of guy that started off as fans of wrestling and ended up becoming a wrestler seem to have lost their love for it after being in the business for decades but he still loves it and is probably a bigger fan of it now than he was when he started. He’s the definition of if you do something that you love you’ll never work a day in your life. I just wish that he was more well known by the masses than he is. It’s guys like him that were great jobbers that helped make superstars out of guys like Flair or the Rock and Roll Express! He truly is one of the unsung heroes of wrestling.

George looks better and cooler now than he did when he was in his prime/national tv years. Also, it has been really cool to see and hear him getting his due respect from his peers in recent years. He deserves it. The art of a good tv match is a lost art. Like, enhancement matches that made you want to go to a house show or buy a ppv.

George is very right about Bill Eadie and The Masked Superstar. Without nationwide wrestling promotions people don't realize how over the Superstar was especially in Georgia Championship Wrestling. Not to mention he was a big, huge, well built bastard before he was given the Demolition gimmick.

This is my fourth video on this guy, why isn't he up there at the WWE level? Not to wrestle, but to be in some mentor/administration role? I only say WWE because that's considered the show.
