Personal affirmation and a sense of belonging to the pack, it's all dogs really need. Treats are good to start with, but bad to rely on permanently.

Dogs have five main needs connected with obtaining food: trailing, sneaking, chasing, licking and chewing. You can easily see your dog trying to satisfy those needs on a daily basis. Dogs have a strong need of “achieving” their food actively, that’s why they shouldn’t be given a constant, 24h access to food. This is not true, that treats are just a trivial and shallow prize. They are actually perfectly suited for satisfying your dog’s natural needs.

Cara Garcia here did I say they can be the only prize? XD Or that he can get unlimited amount? I denied that all a dog needs is personal affirmation and a feeling of belonging to pack, cause it’s just not true XD A dog has much more needs on a personal and physical level. Never have I wrote that she should give him a treat in a video, or that she’s doing something bad.

I showed this to my young grandchildren. I told them he knows how to clean his area up. I bet they do too. And they did!😍 A trip to the ice cream shop is their reward. Ages 2 and 3😗😗😊
