Ok. This is my favorite herping channel by far. BUT....I can't drive anymore without searching for snakes and turtles on the road. 👍🏻🙂

Here in South Florida we have reptile eggs from February to September and the Scarlets are cery active almost year round, most of us suspect they eat small geckos anoles and skinks between egg feedings.

Thank you for not editing out when you picked up the rat snake. I love to see how the snakes 🐍react to you. Again you have taught me so much to feel more confident to go into the woods for earlier deer 🦌scouting and knowing the different snake species. Great videos👊

Curious about the brown snake you keep finding, what does it normally pray on? I guess I should try and get out and do some road cruising to see what is out and about. Normally we have a couple species of Garter snakes, ring neck snake, Pacific gopher snake (the largest snake in the area), a couple of rattlesnakes one being the Northern Pacific and one native boa constrictor species. These are the ones that I normally see when I drive the back roads at night. Need to set up my video recorder to video the drive and the snakes and lizards that we might find. You are inspiring this 70 y/o outdoors woman to get back outdoors. Wish I had your knowledge concerning herpetology. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, keep cruisin' the roads for snakes and other critters.

Slugs, worms, snails, other invertebrates, and occasionally smaller hatchling snakes/lizards, and freshly morphed frogs (I wouldn’t be surprised if they ate tadpoles as well). They don’t prey on much very big, and are mostly slug control in your gardens.

Great vid Noah. Yes; that large Copperhead looked just like the 3’er’s I’d catch in east central TX back in the 70’s. They actually were almost always very docile compared with the juvies.

If you want to see a lot of gopher tortoises and maybe an indigo. try Fitzgerald Georgia and the surrounding area. Take highway 182 that runs out along the ocmulgee river. many miles of dirt roads in that county (Ben HIll)

Dude, you have some serious skills! I’ve lived my entire life in the Georgia Piedmont area and you find snakes I’ve always read about and knew were but I’ve never seen! I grew up in Henry close to the south Fayette line and now live in south east Coweta on the Meriwether line. We live in the woods and I geek out every time we find box turtles. Our little area has a healthy population of box turtles. I have some pictures of one my husband found last week and let me study for a bit, then we put her back. It was a female south eastern box turtle and her shell had obviously been torn up by a predator/car….im not sure what but it was long since healed. Her scutes were smooth and nearly rubbed off in spots. She was big and I’m pretty sure very old, probably the oldest I’ve ever found but I don’t think it’s possible to be totally sure. Anyway, she made my day. He was squirrel hunting and found an adult male and the old adult female about 15 ft apart. So, I’m loving the mole and seeing how fast it digs. You have to live here in the Piedmont to understand what a feat that is because that little guy dug under faster than one of us can dig a hole to put flowers in with a shovel 😂😂😂. The ground here is hard in most places. It’s a smidge easier in the woods under all of the rotten leaf matter but still not easy. I have a 13lb silky terrier whose mission in life (next to being snuggled and pampered) is to play the squeak out of every rodent she smells. She’s even gone after armadillos…or is it armadillo for plural? Regardless, she’s done it more than once. 😂 Thanks for the videos and the knowledge man! You’ve inspired me to go out herping myself. I won’t know every reptile name and I will not be approaching venomous ones but it would just be fun to ride around and snap some pictures. I’d hate leaving a snake in the road but I do NOT have your skills and would just get myself and ultimately the snake hurt if I tried so it would have to be a zoomed in shot. 😂 Thanks again!

I have read in other sources too that people in the US have found moles on the surface. European moles are much more secretive. Probably you couldn’t find one on the road ever here. Also do grey rat snakes prefer the same habitat as corn snakes? Why are they much more common than the latter? And also nice vipers.
