Looking forward to this one actually. Thank you for uploading this one. 1986 a very strong year musically and the year my sister was born. Shocked 'Saving All My Love For You' only came 18th there. Big hit here. 'Who's Zoomin' Who' is a forgotten classic of Aretha's. I'm starting to think Diana Ross was more famous here in the UK with that song than US and anywhere else. Glad the lovely Billy Ocean got rewarded. 'Herz an Herz' I think of the Blumnchen cover in the 90s. Had no idea it wasn't her song. Good to see them appreciate Sheila E there and appreciate 'Girlie, Girlie'. 'Sara' easily the best Starship song but unknown here in the UK. I always thought Paul Hardcastle was a one-hit wonder. 'Silent Running' a hidden gem. The multiple versions still prevalent I see. 'How Will I Know' a big hit here and in the US, but not that well thought of here. Probably very well known. Good to see Jennifer Rush get some love here. My sister's middle name was named after The Damned / Barry Ryan song. Seeing Princess Stephanie sing makes me think what if Diana or Fergie or Kate and Meghan had a music career? 'A Different Corner' Beautiful ballad. Probably my second fave here. 'Uber die brucken gehn' one of Germany's best entries and yet 45th. Glad the UK gave that 12 that year (and thanks to Germany and France for the 12 this year). I love the music of Sam Fox. She isn't a good singer but she's entertaining and many good songs. 'Live To Tell' one of Madonna's best. Princess - underrated singer and I love her voice and songs. Good to see the Eurovision winner by Sandra Kim make the charts here. Glad they love Janet Jackson there. Bruce and Bongo...what the! Is it me or is Chris from Pet Shop Boys very hot in the 'Opportunities' video? 'Ti sento' an Italian classic. Interesting to see a song about Chernobyl. 'Human' wonderful song. I think the Boris Gardiner song was more of a British thing, but glad it did respectable there. Lovely loves rocks style ballad. 'Coming Home' the Jeanny follow-up but just as brilliant and dark. 'Who Wants To Live Forever' my favourite and underrated here. I just love that song. So emotional and you feel the power in his voice. The Gwen Guthrie song is a proper 80s dance classic. 'The Wizard" was used in Top of The Pops (UK). CC Catch is a guilty pleasure. Glad Erasure's 'Oh L'amour' got some love there. Much better than Dollar's lame cover. Schlager and Italo seem to be dominant genres and Modern Talking still huge even if I do like 'Brother Louie'. Roll on 1987.

Francis - we owe you a big debt of gratitude! Unforgettable hits, great voices and such iconic videos as: 10:01, 10:37, 13:39, 18:17, 30:22, 31:54, 33:30....Modern Talking continued their string of no.1 hits at 3:51 and 14:10 but ended at 27:39. Depeche Mode began to outweigh their rivals from UK. If you want to capitalize latest success, you should re-edit hits from previous albums like they did at 4:04 and 9:54. And then I stumbled to hear one of my all-time favourite song 17:04, charting almost twenty years after original release, and two years since Marvin tragically died.....

I didn't expect it so soon, I am blessed... 1000 thanks

The song of Peter Schilling is just called "Ich vermisse dich". The video might be from the "Halberg Open Air" in 1986.

MARAVILLOSA SELECCIÓN del 86, y aunque mi ídolo absoluto es Rod Stewart y en este MARAVILLOSO VÍDEO hay dos TEMAZOS suyos (sobre todo "Every Beat Of My Heart" que me encanta), "Too Good To Be Forgotten" de Amazulu es mi canción favorita del 86. Cada vez que la veo en cualquier vídeo me emociono un montón porque además de que es un TEMAZO muy poco conocido e infravalorado y en muy pocas listas aparece, me trae buenísimos recuerdos de mi infancia (mi padre la tenía en un cassette de los 80 que le grabó un amigo o familiar y ponía ese cassette en su Renault 5 rojo, y cuando salía "Too Good To Be Forgotten" me encantaba oírla). Además de ser mi favorita del 86, es para mí una de las 4-5 mejores canciones de los 80. Otros que me encantan de este vídeo que he descubierto hace poquito, son los Munchener Freiheit. Depeche Mode siempre me encantaron. Y detrás de Amazulu pues ya sin duda me quedo con Rod de este vídeo!!! 😉

Thanks for making all these compilations, and now you have me binge-watching them. A mix of comedy with a lot of the "one-hit wonders" and some silly childlike lyrics for German sing-along, and of course a scattering of actual big hit singles and successful artists. One thing for sure - the 80s pop music scene was a lot more "fun" than any other decade.

Some random fun facts: 1. Sandra Kim won the ESC - at that time still called "Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson" - at the age of 15, although the minimum age requirement was actually 16. She was never disqualified. 2. Drafi Deutscher's "Sensuality" is an English version of his "Herz an Herz Gefühl". Both versions are in this chart survey. The lyrics are not equivalent. 3. Roger Whittaker again - The German-singing Englishman who does not actually know any German. Well, he sung in English as well. His most famous may be "New World in the Morning".

I find it interesting that the huge majority of songs are in English language, and (to my English hearing ears) most of the German songs are quite slow, middle of the road, lacking the 80's up-tempo happy beat.
