This is typical of modern pistols. They set them up tight, So when they wear in, they run perfect. what I like to do is take the oil and grease off of it and cycle the slide about a 1000 times by hand to let it break in and then grease it on the spots where you see rubbing. That will make them run good.

I have this weapon, and I have not had many problems. Although, when I used a really cheap lead-based round, it did jam a few times, but I attribute that to the ammo. If you want a really nice, light-weight .22 cal weapon, I suggest the Glock Model 44. I have that one as well, and it's a gem to shoot.

Glad to hear that it seems to be working for you. Hate it when a rim fire doesn’t shoot consistently. Have a KelTec P17 that was doing that. Tried a hundred rounds of Stingers on last trip to range, no hiccups. So may have found a solution. Shoot a few more hundred rounds of the stingers and maybe mini mags will work. Sometimes just have to try different loads for the pistol. Looks like you found one.

Guess I'm going to have to pick up one of the P17's. Love the innovation from KelTec, sometimes it doesn't translate to reliability. Been holding off on it.

@@untacticaltexan I’ve been super happy with the PMR30. It is as reliable as my Ruger-57. Don’t have a lot of rounds through the 57 yet. I’ve had a couple of the Sub2000 rifles and they have been reliable. Oh do not get that rifle in 40S&W, it will leave bruises. If you decide you want a bargain priced 9mm carbine try the HiPoint. They run very reliably just sorta homely. Back on topic, so far I’m happy with the P17. It fits my small hand well, if it proves reliable I gold use it as a social pistol if arthritis gets worse as I age. Oh and magazines are under $20 each. It ships with 3 so I added a few more can shoot a bunch after loading up

It’s a beautiful pistol but the malfunctions might be too big of a deal for me. I have a couple 22’s that never fail and I guess I am spoiled now. I had a Walther/Colt that ran great but it was full size and I wanted this size. Oh well, maybe they will eventually come out with a cmdr. size. Thanks for the video.

I have multiple 1911’s and the truth is most with tight tolerances need to be broken in or hit with some sand paper/lapping paste. It will make the firearm more reliable to have some play in the slide

It's disappointing that reliability is such an issue with GSG, especially as it is a German made product. By the way, be sure to use high velocity ammunition. It provides more power to operate the slide.👌🏽

I realize this vid is been up for awhile now but I'm 98% leaning towards picking up this 922 and figured you might have a more in depth opinion since you've been running this pistol for about a year now.. I'm hearing the barrel and feed ramp are encased, or coated, in polymer.. Is that true?.. If so, have you noticed any wear from rounds feeding across the ramp, or any changes in the polymer coating on the barrel from heat?.. Just seems kinda odd to polymer coat a gun barrel, but IDK.. 😂 The other thing you mentioned was that the mag spring seemed weak, did you end up swapping it out?.. If so, did it improve the issues?.. Can you link the company where you found the upgraded mag springs?.. Found a really good price on this 922 and it's mostly the whole polymer coated barrel/feed ramp claims that I'm hearing that have me on the fence, so any updated opinions or even a new vid on your 922's range performance to date would be greatly appreciated.. 🎉

I have had good luck with it after a bit of break in. Now it seems to run pretty much any HV rounds. I didn't know about the possible polymer coating, but haven't experienced any abnormal wear. The mags seem fine now, however I did upgrade them to 14 round compactity. Search eBay for those. The only thing else I would say is I probably would have bought the full sized for the threaded barrel, but if you don't plan on running a can, that doesn't matter. Overall I like it quite a bit. It's a fun little pistol

Any new gun should be taken down cleaned and lubed before firing, they sit in those boxes for weeks even months before you buy them, so manufacturers put some pretty strong stuff to avoid corrosion.

I’m really looking into the pistol, and it would be an option for me for concealed carry, however, the reliability issues on the type of ammo. It only discriminately like The Big will be something that would be a no go. Also, unfortunately, it looks like there’s only a Commiefornia version, which would not let me put a suppressor on it. So looks like a fun gun though.

@Untactical Texan I've heard a few shooters recommend using cci or another more expensive brand of ammo to avoid the 1, 2, 10, or even 100 bad rounds from the bulk packs. I like the cheaper ammo too, don't get me wrong, but I always experience consistent jams with anything less than cci. Mostly with my rifles, I literally just bought this gun and am already taking notes on the upgrades people recommend. I've seen the unboxing video you posted, and that definitely contributed to my impulse buy of this cool looking 22. 😎 👍🇺🇲

@@untacticaltexan There is another video on KZfaq in which the poster faced the same problem of a lengthy break-in and solved it by gently sanding the guide rails with an extremely fine grit of emery paper. I've had to do likewise on other low end pistols but instead of emery paper I've used lapping compound.
