so my teacher just has us, for our midterm and final, write an in-class essay on a topic of our choice. This will be the 4th test ill take in this format (I've aced the past 3) where I prepared myself through these videos. The last topics I've done were Roman Haruspex, the Second Punic War (where I learned SO much), The avignon papacy, great schism, Martin Luther and his 95 theses, and The congress of Vienna, For my final tomorrow, I'll be writing about The unifications of both Italy and Germany. Looking forward to it :)

One important factor in the failure of the early desire for German unification was the religious division between the primarily southern catholic states and the northern protestant states.

These helped me study for my test, too bad Prof. didn't say what to study for Germany 1800-1910.... so its everything in those years for the next 2 days!

The king of Prussia didn't use the word "pig", but said that the crown offered to him was "befouled with the dirt of the revolution" and was contaminated with a "decay scent". This reaction illustrates the political judgement of the "liberals" who thought it was a good idea to offer the crown to that monarchand and their unwillingness to actually perform a revolution.

I believe zollverein is analagous to the European Union. Started as an economic agreement but served as a useful precursor for political unification for those interested in consolidating power.

He seems intelligent, but amazingly he grossly mispronounces German words such as Zollverein, which are common historic words which should not be butchered. Obviously, the reason becomes patent when he shows the Southern penchant for continuing the Civil War by not observing a federal holiday.
