As a guy who has been watching these kids for years, long before the hype started, let me just say that Wirtz is as special as Musiala is. He has the same ability to glide past players with ease while actually being a better passer, a better No 10. He has been the best player in the league this season hands down, while Musiala struggled a bit earlier on. This said, I rate them both equally high and wouldn’t choose between them, why should I? They are both guaranteed starters for Germany.

I think they can build something brilliant for the next decade at least with this team it's just a shame Kroos is older now cause he is imperative to this team.

Nagelsmann said that he might make 1 or 2 changes in the lineup before the Euros. This allows him to strengthen the squad by putting Neuer, Müller or Füllkrug into the 11 to add the finishing touch to this squad. Everyone played their part, and the team is looking its most confident in the past several years. Add the fact that Musiala and Wirtz are just getting better by the day and have shown an insane work rate, this might be one of the most entertaining teams to watch at the Euros.

This has nothing to do with one single player. Its all Nagelsmann really. Yogi Löw and Flick were just too close to parts of the team. They were all too blind and full of themselves to see that changes had to be made. Getting rid of the big bayern and dortmund blocks, and bringing in fresh talent was the key to bring the team back to life. The mentality completely changed...and thats all it needet.

The truth is that Nagelsmann as a national coach did sooooo many mistakes regarding tactics (e.g. trying to play 3 or 5 defenders in the back) and formations (e.g. Havertz as left defender LOL). Nagelsmann was the reason why team Germany didnt improved after sacking the loser Flick. In fact it was Rudi Völler who put in the background pressure onto Nagelsmann to STOP these nonsense experiments and to put the real best formation in the 4-2-3-1 system onto the pitch. And what happens then? Well, Germany showed immediately what a worldclass potential they have, if the coach is just bringing the right formation onto the pitch!!!

And if they are pretty decent, your chances of winning the tournament rise. And that's why Germany won 4 WC and 3 EC. No players stand out, but they usually have very few crappy players.

It's not really about Wirtz and Musiala, as they have both been part of the team before. It's the midfield combination and the decision to move on from a lot of players that's making a difference. Nearly all players from Borussia Dortmund (BVB) are gone, and for good reasons. Additionally, Germany had an abundance of offensive central midfielders. However, playing two of them in central midfield leads to a lack of structure. Simply telling these players that one must adopt a defensive role wasn't effective. Consequently, Kimmich is no longer in midfield, Can and Goretzka are out, and Gündogan is barred from playing central midfield. Kroos, considered the best build-up player in the world, is back. Pairing him with a real defender like Andrich or Groß seems to be the solution.

With some big teams struggling to win the friendlies, especially England with the best midfielder trios and France with the best player (Mbappe ghosted in both games), it's not really surprised that Germany will do the similar script when they performed better in the 2006 World Cup, also at the home soil, despite having a dreadful friendlies at that time. As long as Wirtz and Musiala didn't commit a serious injury before the final preparation, while rallying their respective clubs to the possible success in both domestic and Europe, that would be a good idea. Qatar in Asian Cup and Ivory Coast in AFCON did so while hosting the tournaments. Even the USMNT, who will stage the Copa America, had a chance to upset Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay in that tournament with fairly underrated squad thanks to Nations League victory! I think it will be a great year for the tournament hosts!

As much as I like Musiala and Wirtz…what Germany needs against very defensive teams is less dribbling and more high assists to players who are good headers like Füllkrug. Musiala also has to be more clinical in front of the goal.

England‘s best generation in almost 20 years still not a Top 3 side in europe. English media overrated the squad to the point people thought they are heavy favourites for the Euros. I see many overrated system players in the England team, but only a few players with pure footballing ability. In international football players like Rice, Bellingham and Foden will be found out, because the systems in their clubs hide their weaknesses. I can agree with your point about Rice and Foden but Bellingham plays with Ancelotti and if you have seen RM matches this year you can cleaarly see that RM doesn't play with a structured system and in fact they play around him. Jude has been given more defensive responsability and the facts he's scoring so many goals people don't see how great his creative and skills are. Friendlies mean nothing. I know the media must go off in the 24/7 digital world, but that doesn't mean friendlies have any meaning. I would also add that these friendlies mean even less given it is the business end of the domestic season.

Germany have the reverse of issue of England. They have very limited talented pool, which is why players like Muller and Kroos and Gundogan well past their best still play because they don’t have good enough young talent, but they have a world class coach who makes the right player selections and tactics to get the best out of the team. Germany don’t have an idiot coach like Southgate who has a deep pool of fast centre-backs who are comfortable on the ball and can defend one on one, and overlooks them to select Maguire and Dunk slow defenders that make England very vulnerable in defence because he doesn’t understand that you can’t play high defensive lines with slow centre defenders. What annoys me is the the FA of England lack ambition and want to extend his contract despite him being a bad coach because they care more about PR than football.

There are no Germans England have begged to play for England because England has more quality. The fact the German team is so much older is a clue they lack talent. In nowadays tournaments, there will be no teams that give you any space to play power football like the Netherlands and France did for Germany in meaningless friendlies. It's obvious that you need a constantly ploughing, solid, balanced midfield to get through a long tournament, as the Argentinians and Croats do, as seen in the past when they were in the last 4 of the World Cup. It's not enough to have magicians in offensively joyous squad, even a talented Brazil lost to Croatia or Germany had to feel it in the last group stages without Kroos or not, what good is it to have him alone if Wirtz and Musiala don't help him out, i.e. help out at the back in the permanent act and manner. They are completely the wrong type of players against physically brutal midfield teams. It's also noticeable in the last title-winning teams that their midfield is more remarkably for its defensive brilliance than its attacking finesse. The Croatian, French and the English even Spanish with trio Rodri, Koke and Gavi come closer to this ideal than the current offensively loaded Germany. On the contrary, the Germans will predictably struggle against primarly defensively-minded counter-attacking teams such as Hungary, Austria or Denmark, and may even fail.
