Missing a bit of explanation on obtaining true accuracy on the beveled box in my humble opinion.

If when adjusting the blade angle or height, you crank it too far, you must go back past where you first wanted it and THEN carefully approach your desired setting to avoid “backlash” in the gear. That means that you’ve introduced the amount of extra space that is inherent in the mesh of the gears into your setting and it won’t hold at that location. It’ll move when you make your cut. Then you wonder what the heck you were measuring when you find the discrepancy. 😉

It would have been better to detail the steps required for correcting the bevel. That is my problem and without using a shooting board, how can I tell what adjustments are needed on the saw and how to make the adjustment.

@ 5:17 I didn't understand how adjusting your stopblock would fix the inaccuracy of your blade. Don't you have to adjust the blade to get your miter 45s to line up? Is there something else I missed? Same for the box between 7:50 and 8:00 Also, how do you make sure your stop block is a true 45? put it against your triangle after making a few cuts?

This while making a trial cut, not the finished product. He moved the stop lock to make sure there would be a fresh cut. When it matches, you can go ahead with your actual pieces. 😃

Why didn't you show how to reset to make the second cuts?

I'm with John, at 4:15 you can see that he does the first cuts, he then tests the fit of them, he sees he needs to readjust by a small amount, but it is not shown in the video how this second, most accurate readjustment is done. Does he measure something? Does he just tap it slightly? He seems to be able to readjust only once and he gets it perfect, how does he achieve that? It's a bit contradictory because later in the video he says it takes lots of trial and error, but we only see the first check, and then he adjusts once and it's magically perfect.

@@Wood Sure. But the problem is that when you unlock the gauge head to readjust it, you lose the initial reference point, and then, since the head is relatively heavy and now it is floating freely how are you going to compensate for the tiny angle you were off by? This part is the crux of the whole cutting accurate miters with this kind of table saw.

I don't under stand how cutting a little more off on the bevel and miter makes it fit.

I understand that much, BUT, I don't understand how it can still fit the picture you might be trying to frame.

David L. - I wouldn't read too much into it. Besides, it's a true statement. A bit like politicians that say one thing, but do the opposite. Or did that get too political?
