I figured out a DIY hack to get into blind-tooling. Wanted to share with my fellow hand bookbinders... Here is a link to the ebay search which yields the leather stamps: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...

Frankly say..i did the same thing with the wooden handles to insert the metal tools. Your use of patula for lines are amazing. You r very creative. Great of you to share..especially your hand made stand for the tools..👍🇲🇺

What are the benefits of blind tooling versus just stamping and carving the leather?
@benjefferies85312 ай бұрын
Two things: 1) Blind tooling has a lower barrier of entry - as it means simple creating patterns by pushing down the tools. Whereas carving etc requires a trained artistic hand. 2) this can be done on thinner leather, and it leaves the epidermis intact. Book leather is usually no more than 2oz thick. So there’s not much to carve into.

@benjefferies8531 I really appreciate you answering. I've been doing leather carving and wood burning for my books for a few years and have been thinking about learning blind tooling next.
