Indeed, Moons aren't just grooves, they're movesets. WAY before MKX. Some characters will just be completely different with each moon phase.

This was something Samurai Shodown 3 did all the way back in the 90s. Melty added on top of that but I think either that or Super Turbo are the precursors of a character being a package.

Fun fact: Sion shows up in Fate Grand Order as a magus and not a vampire due to differing timelines. Nasu loves his alternate timelines. That's actually why things are so different in the different series. In Tsukihime things happened so that vampires are more important, while in Fate, events occurred so that magi and Servants are more important.

If nothing else, I got to commend Woolie for trying to get the bathroom jokes out of the way as soon as possible. I know people love them, and they were amusing at first, but damn have they gotten real tiring after so long. Can barely get a discussion going for this game without it getting overtaken by lavatory shenanigans.

When Woolie went to Chaos and Sikanto pivoted their choice to Roa, I thought for a moment Woolie was going to get to see the absurdity that is a top tier in Melty. Sikanto picked F Roa instead of C though. Edit: Saw a little bit of it later.

3:42 Not sure if you know about this already but there is a mod for the Caster version called Concerto lobbies which eliminates the issue of needing to share IP addresses. It also acts as a visual front end for Caster so the UI is a lot cleaner.

Always great seeing this game get some play. Absolutely love Ryougi Shiki's stylish moveset and that her stage (at 50:45) has great music. Unfortunately, I don't think that stage is in the default build of the game on Steam, since it was a PS2 only stage (community version and mods have it though).

Hey Woolie, have you heard of Maiden & Spell? It's described on the store page as "a one-on-one magical girl aerial projectile battler, featuring a colorful cast of ladies fighting with fantastic spells." It's basically a shmup fighting game. Really fun stuff, and most importantly - IT HAS ROLLBACK. I dunno if you are much into shmups, but just thought I'd throw it out there since I really enjoy the game, and I love watching GIFG. Keep up the good work!

I hope that even after Reggie and Woolie got completely bodied by all the Melty Community mods that Melty still gets to enjoy being shown off even more. It's really fun to watch Melty with all it's air dashing, corner combing madness and I wish there was at least a few more fighters that follow suit.

Melty Blood is the shit. Some of the freest movement of any traditional fighter. Good enough variety of options that even CRoa and FHime, which are pretty blatantly overpowered, don't overcome skill with top players playing shit like normal Akiha, Sion, Miyako, or Nanaya. The GOAT imo.

Not easy to capture in a single sentence since it's a VN with like five different story routes, but I'll give it a shot: an immortal reincarnating vampire (Roa) has appeared in the modern day, and comes into conflict with our protagonist (Shiki) who is gifted with a one-hit kill power, a monster-exterminating Church hunter (Ciel) and a pro-human vampire (Arcueid). Meanwhile, Shiki has to deal with a whole bunch of family issues at home and not bring attention to his involvement in these things.

The characters come from type moon properties. Not Fate specifically but other series made by the same group, which is the characters have a similar look.

The original work is by the same creative team behind the Fate franchise. The characters featured are primarily from Tsukihime, the first visual novel they released.

Sort of. As far as Type-Moon is concerned Tsukihime and Fate are separate universes, apart from explicit crossover events like Carnival Phantasm.

Does Woolie not like Fate? I can never get a read on his feelings about the Fate franchise when Type-Moon related things come up. Given the other things he likes he should love Fate, but I get the impression he doesn't.
