I came back to make sure I subscribed to your channel and add a comment of thanks for this series! I love using KZfaq to give me ideas and make choices. This series “GIDWM” motivated me to go through all of our stuff as well and try some new things. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your homeschool with us!

I can relate! No clutter for us if I can help it. I will keep a few things in our filing cabinet, but purge and toss after a few years. We don't have any state regulations so I don't keep for gov't purposes. Now I have one in 9th grade, so he'll have his grades/portfolio and that's it!

If you have a pro click you could just bind the stories so they are less likely to rip than a three ring binder. Then just add what they write each year. It would be such a sweet keepsake 😊

I have been purging a lot as well. We got a lot when we were connected to a charter. I’ve found that I will jump from one to another if I have it. My biggest goal next year is to try and get to the end of the year with the majority of what we started with. And to start with the less of a load I’d normally have.

Thank you for the much needed inspiration. I do a big binder with my kids’ work samples by subject. I have a template that I use to document learning objectives for each semester and the resources used to meet those objectives, so that goes in the binder. I also keep attendance (required by my state), and standardized test scores. Throughout the year I keep everything in a hanging box, by subject. So now I need to go through and determine what will go in our 2022/2023 binder. I use a mead spiral notebook where I staple or paste their writing. I can pull them out and put them in the binder if I want, since they are already 3 hole punched, or leave them in the spiral notebook. At this pot the are staying in the notebook because I love looking at the progress. We are a SL family also, so I need to organize and store our HBL’s from the year we just finished and prep for next year. Armed with your inspiration I think I will start to tackle these projects this afternoon.

Your process seems pretty thorough already. The only thing that I can think of to make it go faster, would be to organize work into their respective binders or piles as you go throughout the year. But who has time for that!! 😂 Thank you for the inspiration. 😊
