Yep! When they reacted to You've Got the Look, I don't know if they'd reacted to Sheena on her own yet, so I don't think they recognized her, then when they did Morning Train, like they said, she was so sweet and innocent there, still hadn't made the connection. But if they had reacted to Strut or Sugar Walls, THEN You've Got the Look, they would've recognized her!

True. It was like HS and university crept slowly while it was happening, and then sped up! Life seemed to do the same! Goodness knows I miss my 80's! Sheena Easton's career seemed to start in 1980 and fizzled out by 1990, my formative years. I did find an album of hers performing old pop and jazz songs with strings like Linda Ronstadt's "Round Midnight" and Carly Simon's "My Romance" albums.

I've been requesting this and "Sugar Walls" for ages. Glad you got to it! Sheena did quite a bit with Prince, and he actually wrote "Sugar Walls" for her. It's another up tempo one that has that naughty Prince spin.

Actually written for his backing singer Jill Jones but Sheena was a bigger name and was looking to toughen up her image, so the song was passed along to her and was one of her biggest hits.

I remember she was being interviewed on VH1 and the guy asked what the song is about alluding to its innuendo and she coyly says in her melt my legs Scottish accent, “oh I think it’s about a candy factory”. 😂 God I love her. Saw her in concert and hers was one of my favorites.

"Strut" was co-written by singer Charlie Dore, she had a few single hits in the late '70s the biggest one was "Pilot of the Airwaves". As for Sheena, songs like "You Could Have Been with Me" and "Weekend in Paris" also showcase her vocal skills really well.

This makes me soooooooo happy! Sheena Easton has been and remains one of my top 10 favorite female vocalists since I was a little kid. The first album I ever personally asked to be bought for me was her 1983 album "Best Kept Secret" and I adore her for ALL the reasons you highlighted in your discussion here. The clarity and control she shows in her voice is among the best of all pop vocalists, for my money. She's so precise while also being so emotionally effective. My I recommend as follow ups "Telefone," "Sugar Walls," "The Lover in Me," and "For Your Eyes Only." Thank you for what you do here. Liked and shared.

"You Could Have Been With Me" really shows her range and control, in my opinion. I *love* this song; absolute dance tune and "woman power" vibe. Oh, the line is "...is just a smoke from another fire." In other words, he's just wanting her to be the other woman he *actually* wants, and not herself.

One song with Sheena Easton that many people don't now about is "Flower in the rain". A beautiful song that was used in a episode of The Outer Limit, where she played the lead singer i a band. That is a song (and artist) worthy of been used in a Female Friday episode. :)

She was beautiful, sexy, smart, funny, and sang like a bird. And throw in the lilt of her Scottish accent when she speaks and forget about it. What else could you possibly want? There's a song called "Get It" by Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson. Sheena Easton released some New Jack Swing songs in the late 1980s & early 1990s. One is "The Lover In Me" produced by Babyface & L.A. Reid, who were members of the R&B band The Deele. Sheena was also in a few episodes of the 1980s cop show "Miami Vice". A lot of other music artists appeared on the show too like Phil Collins, Little Richard, Miles Davis, & James Brown.

This song was written by Charlie Dore, she was famous for the hit song "Pilot of the Airwaves". I was stationed in Japan in 1986-87 and Sheena was rocking this song in some kind of Japanese liquor commercial on TV 🥃🤙
